Love her or hate her, she's the main protagonist on one side of Umi's coin. There's no getting around that without neglecting the half, and therefore the whole of the story as it was intended.
And it is funny to watch people work themselves into a frenzy over something like that. In a pitiable way, but still kinda funny.
