Fellow golden fan. I agree. I remember when it was announced that maki was graduating and the sub units like petite moni and tampopo were going to be scrapped or changed. Everyone at the time was saying it was the beginning of the end. Then around 2003-2004 their sales kept going lower and lower and they lost a lot of TV air time. The eggs were created and focus shifted to them. Mini Moni died. Then the Otomegumi/Sakuragumi split was announced and everyone thought it was going to be permanent. OG members dropping like flies, Mari boyfriend scandel then suddenly quiting. They lost Hello! Morning. Just one thing after another. It was the era of Orange Range and band music. Idols and girl groups overall weren't popular anymore. I stopped caring then I came back a couple years later and was surprised they still existed.

I am still surprised they are still around. But with Tsunku gone, the various scandels that lead to a negative image by the general Japanese public and lack of strong members I'm not sure how they will ever be relevant again. They got lucky with the morning musume x da pump collaboration.
