The manga did have that odd meeting scene with Satoko and Teppei, but, yeah, there were several hints of redeemed Teppei, so that was probably just misleading.

Then again, I feel like Tomato is rewriting some stuff between Gou and Meguri now that he seems to have a bigger creative role in Meguri, like how in Gou Rika's situation was presented the same as the anime's "her suffering made her want to leave Hinamizawa" while in Meguri it's a more roundabout "her suffering made her empty and forget her original self, and she latched onto a dream in order to fill that gap".
