Yeah, if you count kids anime no one but japanese kids watch, anime no one remembers today or gives a shit about, and a handful of other popular anime in other genres. Guess which anime were omnipresent and people were talking about the most. It's like saying there's not a current flood of idol shows because there are still lots of other anime.
