what do you guys think about this "exercise." make a 2d shape, grab a line off it. make a line from the corner to the end of the new line like in <. you'll notice that the lines begin to form pairs; keep those parallel. as you add lines, your brain will straight up just see it in 3d. the goal is to do this with seemingly normal shapes at first, and then pushing it. maybe put the stolen line really close vertically but far horizontally. push until you stop seeing the 3d. try circles and curves too. try stacking shapes and doing multiple at once. my goal was to make shapes like this my default when drawing, with the true far-off end goal being to eventually not see the shape as flat, but as a projection of a real thing that you could hold in your hand. that comes a lot later (apparently, i don't know when, i'm still working on it), but if you've never experimented with 3d on paper before, like i had, you might find it as cool as i did too.
