So with Episode 5 and the subsequent mass evacuation of myself and others not fluent in the moonspeak just around the corner, let's get some theories down that we can look back on later. I'll start:

Jessica planned the original killings, and authored the first letter, as well as the later letters in Episode 1. Kanon, Shannon, and Nanjo are assisting her. Kanon is carrying out the murders, Shannon is the 'Beatrice' Maria knows, and does any appearances by her, Nanjo is the 'magic circle' writer, and helps Kanon where necessary, such as with the first twilight, staking bodies, and helping Kanon fake his death.

Jessica's scheme does not always go as planned (in fact it only goes as planned in Episode 1 I think), in particular Shannon seems to turn the tables on Jessica and carry out her own plan if she lives long enough. Hence Shannon and Jessica's survival past the second twilight being mutually exclusive.
