/jp/ - Otaku Culture

In a lot of ways it kind of sucks.

Summer is so humid it makes you want to kill yourself, rental apartments are shitty and property is expensive, healthy food is really hard to find (i.e. everything premade is unhealthy; no frozen vegetables, no lite anything, etc., so you have to be a good cook to balance your diet), and racists all over the place, ranging from black van crazies to people who are OMG SO IMPRESSED THEY CANNOT FUCKING GET OVER IT when you speak one word of Japanese in front of them.

Points in its favor are that it's safe, people are GENERALLY nice and decent, internet shopping is amazingly convenient (no need for a credit card or anything; you can pay for everything from Amazon orders to the gas bill at any conbini) and in spite of horror stories I've heard, the police are surprisingly nice and helpful (though maybe that's just where I live). And of course there's the easy access to, high availability of, and low cost of /jp/-related goods.
