Glad that you found a strategy that works for you. I think Merlin in general isn't that bad on normal. I don't know if it's because she's just that easy or I'm too used to fighting her as Sakuya. I vaguely remember that the general consensus back when I first played in 2009-2010 was Merlin is the hardest on normal mode. Dunno if that ever changed.
