Just keep trying for a bit or play the game normally until you unlock the sub-items. As i said before 100+ retries is a low number for this game, however don't over do it, it's good to push yourself to your limits but i found out that burning yourself retrying the same pattern over and over for a long period of time causes a lot of mental fatigue.
