i dont know the exact stats on this but im gonna say you're talking out your ass on this one. Yea they still have a lot of rural villages in the outer regions, but they arnt destitute by any standards. They make less in those regions, but it also costs alot less to live in those regions. Hell currently the US is somewhere around 16% of its population is beneath poverty level
