You've got to understand her, it's really not easy being Shinki. She's getting old and she craves this unique feeling she's read about. She would love nothing more than a distant, but no distant child she can pamper while her mother appreciates the support she offers, even if she believes grandma's being a little too nice. She's even starting to get these urges at home, always offering a 2nd plate to her daughters and thinking they all look so skinny.
It doesn't help that she keeps getting teased about potential pretendants for one of her daughters sadly not delivering.
Believe it or not, but Yuki had managed to snatch herself a fine boy a month or so ago. Don't ask me how or what that boy saw in her, but fact of the matter, he was there and on top of that, their 1st date had gone extremely well. That boy had taken Yuki to a Bowling arcade, and according to Yuki, they both enjoyed themselves.
But in her typical naivety, Yuki thought it would be a good idea to bring her "best friend" Mai to the 2nd date, so that she could introduce her to the boy. Mai eventually spilled the beans to Louise a week later, but she did everything in her power to ruin everything. At one point they were walking at the park, and Mai put her left leg right in front of where Anon was walking, and unsurprisingly, Anon fell to the ground. Mai did her best Yuki impression and laughed for a few seconds, before lashing out at Yuki as if she had done nothing, claiming Yuki to be a terrible friend and unreliable.
Later on during the date, she also unbuttoned her top while the three of them were having ice cream, and approached the boy intently, pressing her modest chest against him and showing off the fancy bra she had decided to wear that day. Yuki may be nice, but she has a bit of a short temper, and so in a most unfortunate gesture of hers, she slapped the boy's face and called him a pervert, before bursting into tears and apologising for this most unfortunate hit. Mai seemed delighted at Yuki's breakdown and "reassured" her, telling her that she really isn't ready for this whole dating thing. And so, Mai had convinced both Yuki & the boy she had managed to get a few dates with that they weren't made for each other, at least for the time being.
Needless to say, Shinki was less than delighted to hear all of this, but she really can't do much about it. Mai's got a fair bit of independance, and she's too much of a sweetheart to threaten her own daughter. She really is as powerless as an overly nice parent in front of their tyranic kid.
