He sure as shit can't just release it as normal, unless he wants it to flop even harder this time around.
He'll need something to bridge the gap after years of waiting, not sure just repackaging phase 1 would work. If people need to reread like 20 hours in preparation, it will definitely hurt interest. And that's only going to get worse as time goes on. It's not like waiting 6 months or so for a new chapter of Higurashi or Umineko.

It's not the exact same situation, but I'm a little surprised the guy that seemed to have no issues depicting various forms of abuse/trauma in a fairly realistic way is so shy about including these wartime events. He's hit on serious topics plenty of times before, is this really so much of a step up?

Ryukishi didn't deserve the backlash he initially got from nips.
But I still can't forgive his behavior the last few years, so oh well.
