Every time I remake the /bjd/ thread I hop over here to get the OP. If you want a specific waifu, ShiNeS Workshop does good work on customs with a specific reference in mind. You could also camp Yahoo Japan Auctions, Mandarake, Hobby Japan, or Mercari jp for an older Dollfie Dream or Azone head that fits the vibes you desire more. Avoid customs from ebay, they're usually posted by people who scalped them from yafuoku artists to resell to westerners who don't know better where to get them.

Volks sells wig styling products that can help a lot, but for your particularly vigorous use case I might recommend getting something that's been styled into a pony, tails, or braid to help keep it in place, or to consider short hair if that's a look you might be alright with. I'm pretty sure their wig mist is diluted RAVE/Aquanet in a spritz bottle, but I haven't found a dupe for their water wax yet. Look up water wax styling products at your local hair products store and you can find something that will work. Hair ties and so on are always useful, as well, as are barrettes, ribbons, and clips that can hold bangs in place. If it's "heat-resistant fiber", you can also use a low-heat straightener or curler to achieve the style you like. Lots of options, but wigs can indeed be fiddly, especially when you're moving around a lot.
