Nope, it's not just you. Standard fun girl route procedure involves draining all the fun out of her and replacing all the happy genki parts of her that initially attracted you in the first place with sad, mopey, overly dramatic ones, and a whole host of generally piss-on-parade events. Because as we all know the best part about dating a girl is finding out she's the complete opposite of what you liked in her in the first place.

mainly because someone apparently decided that 'seeing different sides of a girl' is nice and everyone since then has taken this not-incorrect adage and warped it into an ironclad, no-exceptions rule taken light-years beyond its logical extreme. the only way a fun energetic girl can change is down, apparently, so the law decrees that all fun energetic girls must have shitty depressing wet blanket routes.

that is the exact feeling I get, well put. you can do nothing but sit there helplessly as everyone makes the stupidest choices imaginable. like the cliche about yelling at protagonists in horror movies when they split up the party or go investigate the strange noises. which i guess is pretty similar since both have to rely on everyone being stupid in order to hit all the notes required for the genre.
