I get that much. But what is autistic about it. My original question still stands. Is it an art style? a style of prose? An overall aesthetic?

I think that's a bit unfair. If you focus on the prologue and didn't pay much attention to the parts that focus on LDO character building, and don't finish the series you can walk away with the impression that the LDO are romantic hero types who rebel against the tyranny of snek and have the impression that the whole Nazi thing exists to that end, which in turn means that the nazis aren't really the bad guys. Obviously this false impression falls apart once you delve into the story and realise that a group that consists of a bunch of cowards and losers who either couldn't care less about Nazism and some even lack the intellectual capacity to do so.

Mercurius doesn't care about the universe. He just wants to Marie to end him. Ren thinks Marie is better than Reinhard and himself, but he also thinks that Rea is better than Marie which calls his judgement into question. I don't recall Reinhard expressing any thoughts on the matter other than wanting to ravish Mercurius. He isn't too salty about it all but he doesn't care much about the universe either.

I'm finishing up the last D.I route now. I feel like I lurked here too and had too many things spoiled much because the only thing I don't understand at this point is why Rea tried to rape Shirou. That aside, I really enjoyed this VN. I wish the battle between Mercurius and Reinhard was longer, and that Ren had less screen-time, but other than that I've got no complaints. The ballroom scene at the end was great. I liked the fact that the story goes out of its way to humanise our antagonists. Mercurius' craving is by far the least autistic and most relatable.
