I am admittedly not familiar with standalone VR headsets, since I use one tethered to Windows MR - i.e. my only limit to what kind of video I can decode is my computer itself. IIRC, the original Quest and Quest Go can't into higher resolution stuff at all. They should both still be able to play the 2048p60 AVC/H.264 that is most common from DMM VR stream DLs. I am not sure if they can play HEVC, at what resolutions, or at all. I know the Quest 2 can, but I'm not sure how high it goes. And then shit like the Pico4 can play everything. Or you can go for the phone thing like the other guy is suggesting, but then your phone and its ability to decode video are the limiting factor I started out with that.
