Btw, I've been toying with the idea of building a crossfader by basically making an incremental rotary encoder but having the increments on a straight line instead of on a circle. The resolution would probably be something between 40-100 distinct points for a 45mm crossfader. It would be pretty easy to make, and cost between 2-10 dollars, depending on material expenses.
Do you think people would like to play using one and do you think the resolution would be enough for it to be fun? I think it would be fun to play crackin' dj with a real controller.
