Bring Ran, and you have two choices of how to use her. The first involves the fact Ran has a higher base Agi than Medi does. As long as you don't use Medi's graze and her Agi isn't buff through Story Card Stats Ran will move first Fire off her LW at Power 1 and she will lay a stack of poison on all enemies. This method is fairly safe provided that you put enough stacks of poison on all the enemies so that when Medi attack she will fullbreak and stun everyone.
The alternative method is to slot Ran with cards that have the Agi Up effect on cast such as Rolling Down the Slope, Magician's Broom, Pure and Rightous Crow Tengu and Touhou LostWord. Then use the Spell Card that card is slotted to the turn before you plan to break.

There is also the option to use another friend who is an all in one package to apply a Status and Break it with a single attack. Mokou's Spread Shot and Cirno's 2nd SC and LW are both capable of doing that. You also have the option to throw a Delay onto neutral spirit the turn before you plan to use Medi. If you use Reisen's 2nd SC or LW the turn before you plan to LW Medi the Spirit will be stunned through the beginning of the preattack phase and be unable to clear barriers and reapply barriers.
