ITT loan words

エネルギー (enerugii) = energy
アルバイト (arubaito) = part-time job [German: arbeit]
チョコレート (chokoreeto) = chocolate
セクハラ (sekuhara*) = sexual harrassment
ロリコン (rorikon*) = pedophile [from the words 'lolita' and 'complex']

*The portmanteau method of new word creation is the most prevalent in Japan
**Tobacco is a very old loan word, and is always shown in hiragana.

America: To be an "American", all you need to do is

a) be born there
or
b) move there, live there and love the country

Japan: To be "Japanese" you need to

a) be born there
b) have your parents born there
c) have their parents and their parents parents born there forever until it's impossible to trace
d) have no foreigners in your family, this includes koreans no matter how many generations they've lived in Japan
e) have japanese as your first language
f) look like them (sorry albinos)

a-f are all obligatory. There is no possibility of being accepted as Japanese if any are missing.

As you can see, being American is easy. Being Japanese is an honour.
