Sure.
Satoko was hit hard by depression and loneliness brought on people who were bullying her behind her back because she didn't fit in with her environment. Because of this, she sought to bring back memories of Hinamizawa by pranking Rika, which went as well as you think it did, which lead to one of Rika's friends getting Satoko locked up in a self-study chamber for several months, which effectively functions as solitary confinement, during which Satoko did nothing but study so she could get out to the point where she began to have stress-induced nosebleeds. She even began to hallucinate during this time.
>People who experience solitary confinement are more likely to develop anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and psychosis. The practice also affects physical health, increasing a person's risk for a range of conditions, including fractures, vision loss, and chronic pain.
By the time she finally got out, she was practically a walking corpse that was probably just going to kill herself until she got a letter for the club meetup. Seeing her friends for the first time in a while made her wish that she could go back to those days, which prompted Eua to whisk her away, shove 100 years of guro into her heard, and grant her wish, which Satoko gladly accepted.
However, wishes are not so easily granted, as Satoko would then become trapped in a series of dead-end worlds where Rika would die, her brother would die, or Satoko herself would die. It doesn't necessarily matter if Satoko died, anything that caused her misery would cause her to loop. The worlds ended like this again and again and again and again and again, for 100 years. Absolutely nothing she did could change fate, she was trapped in this series of tragedies for 100 years, the same as Rika.
It warped her mind to the point where she began to associate these tragedies with a positive feeling of nostalgia for Hinamizawa and Rika's loops, where without the tragedies of the past, it won't feel right at all. It won't truly be the Hinamizawa that she wishes to return to.
So, Satoko decided that there was absolutely no way for her to ever have a happy future, and decided to live in the past. This idea seemed like such an obvious solution to her that she probably felt like an idiot for never thinking of it before. During this revelation, she also realizes that with this decision, her brother will truly never wake up. She says her final goodbye, and takes her first real step into the realm of witches.
