They can get pretty intense right at the front for people not used to mosh pits. Compared to an extreme metal bands mosh pits though it's tame. Standing should be fine, you can always stand nearer the edge. Much better atmosphere and experience in standing.

It also depends on how old your little sister is... Presuming she is old enough to not mind standing up for several hours and not being able to move round much. Otherwise seated is probably better.
