I don't see why this matters. The 4chan Otakon panels were full of memes and nobody complained, it's just a part of 4chan.

What does grill my beef is that he's using Twitter and Tumblr now. Not just "functionally", he's using them in the same way all the other hip kids use Twitter and Tumblr.

Not to mention veteran 4channers type like that. ( ._.), :<, etc. used to be common. 4chan boards even had graphical emoticons at one point, mostly taken from SA (plus some 4chan-specific ones, like :sage:).

Horizontal emoticons (yes, even the wapanese ASCII-only ones) are all over 4chan and I don't get the current backlash against them.

If you mean the imgboard.php, that's not proof at all. They even specifically log deletions:

We don't know what they do with the databases. They could back them to magnetic tape every few days. Hell, the hosting company might do that as part of their service.
