The story didn't even have the balls to kill Miyuki, who we actually witnessed vomit blood and die. It's not going to kill any of the main trio in the main story.
Especially not given that there was one gunshot too many before Kazuho lost consciousness. There's definitely someone interfering before Kawata got her chance to shoot her dead.

Mei is unironically pretty decent for what it sets out to achieve. Not perfect, and the main protagonist sucks, but it has enough enjoyable stuff in it to be considered a fairly good side story.
And Satokos. There's some very cute Satokos involved.
