I have mixed feelings about Ame. I turned my life around for Aloe and was ready to be her oshi but she never came back. Ame's whining is annoying and I hate her dumb little mistakes with excuses. her debut was also pretty bad. Despite that I still like her. For my own sake I can't really afford to be a gachikoi/gosling so all I'm hoping for is that she builds herself up and be successful.

Most of a vtuber's viewers aren't gachikoi fawning over their oshi, they're just bored weebs stuck inside during a pandemic, completely out of other things to watch because the plumbed the netflix well dry 3 months ago and no new movies, games or tv shows are coming out. Hell even club-bound normalfags could end up here, they're as stuck inside and starved for entertainment as the rest of us. But either way, these folk don't care about the vtuber or their feelings, they just need a digital brain enema while they wait for sleep.

Is pandering to EOPS the ultimate scam?

I cannot think or comprehend of anything more of a scam than pandering to EOPs. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are baiting, catfishing, scamming, and exploiting an incel from overseas solely so that they can feel friendship and donate to you. All the hard work they put into their job- spending 9 hours a day, driving 2 hours on prime time, covering shifts, and taking shit from their boss. All of it has one simple result: they spend their ARS into your channel when you makes noises in moonspeak.

Cultivate an EOP gachikoi. Who benefits? If you're lucky, a random "No wife only friend!" will be taken as a personal compliment by one of the incels and they donate an akaspacha. You get to bask in the filthy overseas money every night. You get the benefit of their desperate and lonely affection that came from the way you exploited their feelings.

As a friend who has scammed EOPs, you are LITERALLY dedicating none of your feelings to support an incel from another country. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL scam. Think about it logically.

Don't get me wrong I see your point and I'm not one of those who would go on FBK's twitter or Matsuri's twitter just to shit on them for what they do, hell I even respect FBK for going so far for the stars despite it hurting her.

I won't pretend to be a saint either because I've searched my feelings from time to time and come to the conclusion that I would dislike it if my favorite started collabing with a male, and yes I realize exactly how irrational that feeling is, maybe I'd get over it, maybe I wouldn't but I wouldn't go all anti on her even if it happened.

Rebranding might be a good idea if more of the girls decide to dump the seiso-ideal but I think the ones who don't care for it are the outliers and will probably remain so, so it might be more bothersome to rebrand at that point.
I'm not against selling merch either, I mean why not do it on top of your gachikoi? I just don't think it would be smart to cull the gachikoi for some moral reason about how idolfags are bad.

I think Miko said it best when she explained her relationship with her viewers. It might be a dystopian perspective in its core but I can't deny that it makes sense and as long as she is aware of what she is doing and compliant in it then I don't see any harm at all in it being supported.
In short, the niche exists for a reason and that niche should be supported if others are willing to support it, and even more so since the girls are adults capable of acknowledging the position they put themselves in.
That being said I don't exactly condone antis attempting to ruin the lives of the girls for breaking the seiso-ideal, but at the same time I'm not going to pity them when they lose their non-extreme idolfags for it either.
