Guess who's back with another update that nobody asked for?
Status: temporarily embarrassed, ascending nihongo god
Chapters of my linnie read today: 1
The result of my attempts to get raws of that vinnie: abject failure.
Anki reviews: getting less failed cards.
Still doing mining, still doing Ankidrone. Manually removed some hundreds of N5 cards I already knew, only stopping for now because it got tiresome. Still don't know many N5, but I skimmed through other levels and I recognized quite a few of those, so whatever.
Though I have to admit I got humbled, all subdecks combined amount to like 7k cards. Even given that good chunk of them are names of places and worthless katakana words, I still got ways to go.
wotd: 常識的

日本語 Grinding chronicles (entry 1/?)
I think it would be funny to start a habit of posting novels like this, let's see how it goes. Though further entries will probably get shorter as my routine returns.
1. My resolve to keep reading a 望まぬ不死の冒険者 chapter per day and reach 500 words in my mining deck by this week was broken because I fell ill for the first time since...Idk how long.
2.It's funny, I sent resume for the first time in months on Friday, got response basically immediately on Monday morning, and by then got sick. I had to reschedule the interview twice because I keep underestimating how fast I will recover.
3.No linnies since then and now, but I did kept up with my reviews.
4.I installed ankidrone v7 on a whim, set it to 50 per day but revised it down to 10 bc it's kind of too much, I will be better off focusing on actual reading and my own cards, and I got tired of pressing ctrl del on words I know already.
5.Surprisingly enough, I didn't make a complete fool out of myself on the interview today and just might actually get employed.
6.But a few hours after I got home I got worse once again, so no linnies for now still.

All "Core" Anki decks are based on newspapers from early 90s and sometimes additionally sorted in a way that makes learning harder. The format of the cards also tends to be WCC instead of a more efficient TSC. Ankidrone Starter Pack is made from a COMPLETELY different corpus ー everyday words used commonly in Japan. You should get Ankidrone Starter Pack.

I want to experiment with English -> Japanese sentence decks. Which downloadable deck lends itself better to Sentence Recall (aka Production) cards?
>JP1K (from /t/ obviously lol)
>Kaishi 1.5k
>Core 2.3k
>Core 2k/6k Optimized
>Ankidrone v7
>That one 37k sentence subs2srs aggregate deck from github
Basically the deck needs either no/low repeated English -> Japanese mappings, or context (like a picture of the scene the sentence came from). I ruled out the Glossika deck for example, as it had a lot of "Yes, I am" mapping to "はい、座っています” for example (and a lot of mistakes too).
I know what I want to do begs for personally mined sentences but I am autistic and can't decide on what to mine.

>ironic coming from an ankidrone
this is exactly what i mean
you arent willing to engage with any arguments and anyone that vouches for the usefulness of something is on the "other team" and you have to spout your mantras against them
i know that you're just shitposting, but at the heart of it is some deep rooted issue with a fucking flashcard program that stops you forgetting some word readings here and there. did anki rape your girlfriend or something? i dunno

I did both.

> but I'm so overwhelmed and I barely have any context to it that I end up giving up.
Try Ankidrone Starter Pack.
> If I made my own cards, I would at least be able to internalize it easier even if it is more time consuming.
Yes, making your own cards is very important. But it's not a replacement for a basic vocab deck, usually.

If you're gonna ankidrone then j-j definitions are way more helpful than the god awful vague english ones. Helps with reading comprehension and understanding more complex and abstract meanings. War may be simple but most are not and will lead to confusion.
