eh it depends, there's like 2 main aspects someone always mentions "it's like arifureta"
the primary one is the betrayal and being thrown at the bottom of a dungeon then coming back strong, which is surprisingly specific yet fairly common and it's still used recently like in infinite gacha
the second one is "omg it has a stronk MC and there's lots of cute girls and there's fights" which is how you know whoever said it hasn't read that many LNs, because it's like saying star wars is literally like LOTR because both follow the hero's journey structure
i'm guessing that anon is talking about someone that said "it's like arifureta" based on the latter

>the anon who implied that it would be like arifureta.
someone said that? that's ridiculous lol
i think the closest thing i've read to arifureta is hazure waku it definitely hits a lot of the same beats
though arifureta has more jokes and references sprinkled inbetween whereas hazure waku is quite serious throughout

I am on volume 3 of koujo denka and I am rather annoyed by the anon who implied that it would be like arifureta. I'm enjoying what it is, but it has no resemblance at all to arifureta.

>Meanwhile, the manga's reception is generally positive, with the readers going as far as to say that it's the true way to enjoy this story
I really question how the fuck when it removes basically anything that makes the story actually interesting.
Nevermind the sex, the entire point is the contagious schizo nonsense, without it just go read arifureta.
Not just that, in the manga the MC becomes the beta cuck stereotype but for real.

For me are these 3:

>MUSHOKU TENSEI: The best reincarnation isekai
Possibly the best isekai to date. His construction of the world and the characters is almost perfect, and we can see the development of the protagonist not so slow not so fast from rebirth to adulthood.
It has a lot of sex, and some people think the show is too perverted in general, but I personally find that’s how people act more less as they would in real life if there were no social nor religious taboos regarding sex, especially without the distractions we have in the modern world. Most of the time sex is shown or talked about, it doesn't feel like the author put it in just for fanservice.

>OVERLORD: The best isekai video game
Without a doubt the best isekai with video game mechanics that has been made to date.
Is a unique combination of videogame isekai and traditional isekai.
The characters, despite being OP from the beginning, don't just stick out their dicks and just show off how strong they are: they try to take over the world with patience and cunning instead of taking the easy way.
It is also fun and interesting to see how the protagonist tries and in one way or another manages to maintain his appearance as an assertive supreme being in the face of his minions, some of whom are even more powerful and intelligent than him.

>ARIFURETA: The best isekai harem
In terms of story, it's not so well written as Mushoku, Overlord or even Re: Zero, but it's certainly more fun and easier to read than any of them: Its narrative, descriptions and fights are top tier and not a single part of Its 13 volumes is boring or dense (also the story is interesting despite it's not its main point).
It has many clichés and fanservice, but it knows how to use them very well, while breaks completely other clichés. In general, it feels fresh as well as familiar.
The protagonist is OP, but he is not simply OP because yes: he has really earned what he has by fighting for his life (and not with the generical gym training nor the experience farming). He has a radical but credible physical, mental and personal development.
It's also fun to see how he creates and uses modern/sci-fi vehicles and weapons in a medieval fantasy world, which doesn't completely clash since he combines his common and apparently useless blacksmith skills with his knowledge of our world and what he has seen in manga and movies.

>i never expected yue to be the mc of arifureta
Not gonna lie, I kinda did.
Then again this is coming off from stuff like absolute duo and hidan no aria.
So technically I wasn't wrong.

not really i never expected yue to be the mc of arifureta or seras to be the mc of hazure waku
i think it's the fact that for one she's pretty normal looking as the other anon said which is par for the course for isekai protags but also that she's looking a bit like she's alone in some forest and is holding on to a sword as well as her expression which looks determined but not exactly confident it just gives off loner vibes and makes you intutively think that she's the ひとりぼっち from the title

>Cucked out of Knights&Magic's golden era.
>Cucked out of Rakudai's golden era.
>Cucked out of both Tsukikage kinovels (Nageki no Bourei and Kuraki Kyuuden) and by the time they got Nageki they got fucked over.
>They got Rebuild World right as the author writes himself into a corner after heavily sanitizing the LN.
>They got Koujo Denka by the time the Arifureta-style audience long started to just learn Japanese.
>They got Shinja Zero by the time that autismo audience was long gone.
>They got Meccha Shoukan long after it went on hiatus and edge started to be "cringe" with EOPs again.
>They got Infinite Gacha, guaranteed to be a big hit in the west by just being overlord but better, but ruined the appeal by turning it into a corny meme like the Kagejitsu EN LN.
>They got Hell Mode... Right as the isekai fatigue started to hit EOPs.
>They got TRPG by the time that autismo audience was long gone, extra painful because the translation is actually pretty good, ALMOST dendro-tier.
>They got Instant Death but that audience isn't the kind to care about reading and sticks to the manga.
I think the only recent wins they have gotten are Dorkness (whose translation is just meh rather than shit), and somehow, SOMEHOW getting Gushing over Magical Girls.

unironically since yue arifureta i haven't seen first girl be a himecut which fucking sucks
and that was like, back when dinosaurs still walked the earth
forget isekai too, even non-isekai seems to lean towards blondes, someone already mentioned otonari tenshi but there's also COTE for example (if you can consider her a main heroine)

Finished Koimonogatari and it was great as usual. Nisio is very witty and his writing is enjoyable to read. I saw the anime a long time ago, but there were a lot of things I didn't remember, and of course reading is a different experience. I could relate to Nadeko, with how she regarded everything as worthless and having no value and only cares about herself. She was fine with throwing away everything about her previous life and the one thing she actually wanted to do, just so she could kill Araragi and the gang. Because she couldn't have him. But I realize it's really unhealthy to view things in extremes like that, which can be particularly apparent when you regard people that way. Like with what Kaiki said, "人間なんだから。かけがえのない、かわりのないものなんかない." We can find something again if we keep looking for it.

Arifureta on hold right now because it's boring me to death with the ice dungeon arc and with how everyone is fighting "dark" versions of themselves and it just keeps going on and the harem keeps growing.

>he's
Lol.
It's like I'm really back on /a/.
Did you morons ever find the original isekai that actually did it unironically without trying to do a trust on it or parody it? Patient zero as you could say.
Because I browsed that shithole for years and this prime isekai was never found in the same way you can point at arifureta as the patient zero for all the "MC gets betrayed and thrown into the bottom of a dungeon, then becomes evil/an anti-hero and crawls out of it" stories like o my seras and eventually shit like nidome no yuusha once the concept got diluted enough.

do I read the afterstory now or wait? It's been 2-3 months since I finished the main story of Arifureta, but I moved on to other books in the backlog. Does it have stakes and tension or is it just slice-of-life?

Same type of stuff, not quite the same caliber.
Arifureta has moments where it tries to be too serious and makes you believe there's some actual risk to the characters, and it may be due to the author not being that experienced early on but for the first half of the main story there's not much character depth.
This has far more focus on heart to heart stuff without devolving too much into telenovela drama, and counterintuitively the combat ends up being more engaging exactly because there's no "high stakes worry" which allows you to actually take in the scenes without speeding past them to see if someone you care about dies or not.

it's up there for me in terms of pure enjoyment while reading
it feels different as a story though, arifureta gets way more serious
arifureta is a story about betrayal, survival against all odds and trying to get back home
uchuu saikyou is a story about cruising through space while fucking hot bitches and occasionally killing some pirates

So I can't find volumes 9-11 of Arifureta in epub (only in jpg). Can I just read the WN if I really don't want to read fuzzy jpegs? And then resume with the LNs in vols 12 and 13? Unless someone here has vols 9-11 in epub.

Pic from vol 8 so spoilered just in case
