I remember back in the day when reading arifureta, I don't know exactly where but I read (in english) a joke about the girls judging a new orbiter and if she was fit to join the group and hajime (or maybe it was yue) was like "yeah nobody else calls me in the same way you do so it's fine", I think it was on the meme 4koma.
At that moment I had no fucking clue what that even meant, then like 2 years later when I could already read most stuff without checking a dictionary every 30 seconds I gave it a reread, then I remembered that joke when kaori joined the group calling him nagumo, and I was like, holy shit, that's what the joke was talking about, every single girl calls him something different even if it's just the honorific.
It was such galaxy brain expanding moment that it sticks to me to this day nearly a decade later.

next month is going to have arifureta after

i've rewatched the anime like five times over the past few years and no matter how badly executed and shitty most of it is, that scene always does it for me

Oh no it's not really a pacing thing, I also think the pacing is actually really good, but I don't like chugging anything in one go, I usually juggle a handful of LNs/games/etc.
I only binge when something really grips my attention like Arifureta did years ago, but even then I like taking my time, it helps me not get burnt out on anything in particular.

Consciously or otherwise feel like a lot of people end up starting to read primarily from a single label, even if they don't notice it.
Like a decade ago people stuck to fantasia because of date a live mass producing clockfags, these days I think overlap may be the primary gateway with arifureta, oreaku, TRPG and a decent number of niche series that nonetheless have a good following.
So yeah starting like this is probably normal for whatever reason.

eh it depends, there's like 2 main aspects someone always mentions "it's like arifureta"
the primary one is the betrayal and being thrown at the bottom of a dungeon then coming back strong, which is surprisingly specific yet fairly common and it's still used recently like in infinite gacha
the second one is "omg it has a stronk MC and there's lots of cute girls and there's fights" which is how you know whoever said it hasn't read that many LNs, because it's like saying star wars is literally like LOTR because both follow the hero's journey structure
i'm guessing that anon is talking about someone that said "it's like arifureta" based on the latter

i think the closest thing i've read to arifureta is hazure waku it definitely hits a lot of the same beats
though arifureta has more jokes and references sprinkled inbetween whereas hazure waku is quite serious throughout

I am on volume 3 of koujo denka and I am rather annoyed by the anon who implied that it would be like arifureta. I'm enjoying what it is, but it has no resemblance at all to arifureta.

Not just that, in the manga the MC becomes the beta cuck stereotype but for real.
