Oh, I'll actually concede the point if the particular date of airing is of more importance than the impact of said airing years on. I thought you were more concerned on the changes of trends and style overtime, and in that case I have a massive bias because I dropped Macross Frontier after a few episodes when watching it a few years after release, but before I really looked into idol as a genre. Honestly my favorite idol work would be Perfect Blue and I mainly appreciate im@s for it's diverse characterization, which isn't what MF was going for.

In terms of idol characterization, I could see another revival following in the archetype of Rin Minmei, and I don't see that as a character type that is dated - in fact I could see a revival in the dramatic, epic style you find in Macross.

If the "puritans in charge" reject their ability to use CC as an international intermediary, then we are left with technically viable but inconvenient ways of transferring money without them:

If I was making a smut company in Japan that pandered to a Western audience, my first instinct would be to find a service pipeline that facilitates the process of $$$ -> ₿₿₿ -> ¥¥¥, minimizing the time and effort for the consumer, which is a huge gatekeep for most people, even anons. I'd also offer the option to pay directly with USD in the states. In both cases I'd ensure that the services make it easy to determine tax and proper accounting to make sure the pipers are paid properly, something made more difficult by avoiding traditional payment processors.

I'm used to using bank wires domestically, but it's kind of a pain for most consumers to use directly with their bank and it is lower trust. However if FedNow* gets larger adoption there could be a convenient way of integrating "pay through bank" online.

The real question is how "tired" foreign weebs have to become in order to put our money where our whiny mouths are, and realize one of these alternatives such that Japanese companies would consider them BEFORE CC processors.
