Brushing teeth is only a big deal if you're addicted to sugar.

It’s more important than brushing teeth. I’ve gone literal years without brushing, but I can’t imagine not washing my face multiple times a day.

>> No.46917222 [View]

Is washing your face really that big a deal? All the time I see characters wash their face in the morning. They won't mention brushing their teeth but they will say they washed their face and then left for school. I didn't think washing your face was that big a deal.

So many things!
>Cuddles
>Having you (she asks in the cutest, most plaintive way imaginable) ride on her back as she struts around showing you off to friends, family, neighbors, etc.
>Learning to take care of a delicate human body.
>Teaching proper mofu and chitin care techniques to you, her little human.
>Doting on you and making teary-eyed speeches about how happy you make her.
>Making breakfast.
>Performing an ancient scarification ritual designed to get her blood all over you to instantly become an incubus.
>Holding you and apologizing as you become a shaken, terrified mess after she explains the ritual, demanding that she "never, ever" hurt herself like that "no matter what."
>Ask you what kind of spider web you want to sleep in, then knit you a cute sleeping bag in that style.
>Brushing your teeth (good dental health (and good breath) matters!)

It'd take a fireball, maybe something stronger like an iron fortress sigil—destroying the titanic boulder would've been easy with magic… Yet Meiling pulls her arm back, stands proud, and, with a step forward, pistons her flattened hand to meet the imposing rock, immediately inverting its inertia and exploding the massive thing into crumbling dust, the debris flying towards our doppelgängers. Always a marvel, her displays of physical might. Not that it mattered, Meilings's copy—Fakeling, yes—brushing the debris aside as if it were easy as throwing it and meeting Meiling in hand-to-hand combat, punts that cracked the earth beneath exchanged in speeds that got me narrowing my eyes, the very air swirling and shifting with their martial yells.

Around us, thunders of pink fell on random spots, the desolate and burning land a mirror of apocalypse.

Ice spikes flew like missiles towards Fakeling, who sent Meiling flying away with cataclysmic punches, jumped into the air and just… kicked the spikes as if soccer balls, sending the crushed ice barreling towards me, which melted as they were intercepted by missiles of pure lava. Amidst the risen vapor of the encounter between magma and ice, Meiling was already on top of the imitator, punching the soil where she stood and cracking it as if earthquake, Fakeling moving and countering, as if reading Meiling's mind… So Flandre's power of diving herself plus mind-reading? Rather than mulling over the powers behind the puppets, I muttered words of fortress—of the Tower of Babylon before its fall—hands held out to the sky as eyes read the encrypted tomes of light that surrounded me—

—just as meteors of pink showered over Meiling and her imitator, a mighty shield protecting her from the falling rocks, the imitator backing off to dodge. Fakechouli watched me from across the field, the two bloodied martial arts between us—mere seconds of battle, a bloodbath.

First contact brought lots of info; that's good. It's a shame I cannot connect mine and Meiling's thoughts to converse; it's likely Sekai'd use it to carve a way into my mind—if she hasn't done it yet… All this show screams no. I look to my translucent tomes, narrowing my eyes; understanding magic is an endeavor I could perform in my sleep, and with prior knowledge, things aren't too hard—almost as if Sekai didn't care about the complexity of the barrier, rather its size. It's massive, in physical and magical form. A trap, possibly? No. Something we haven't noticed, then.

We cannot fight forever and Meiling is just one person; if she's overpowered, I stand no chance against the two copies.

This cannot go on for long…

Sekai's just burning time? Tiring us out? Why? She’s a goddess; she could restrain—allegedly—or kill us at any time…

… Realization comes as striking as Fakeling punching Meiling, the sizzling of magma missiles coming towards the gatekeeper alarming me and prompting an almost reflexive response, dozens of ice missiles materializing and meeting the lava ones head on, a cloud of white vapor expanding and covering the entire area, moved and twisted like a blanket by the sheer power of the two martial artists… Yet, for a mere moment, it blinded me—

—enough time for chains of light to pop out of the mist, Meiling's senses exploding as her eyes turned to me. Teeth bared, I propelled my hand forward and the transcription of the golden pillar away from the chains—some of it caught in my late reaction, ethereal fire burning away a few million words—a vast sigil spawning, purplish in its coloration. “ROT!” I yell, a mystic orchid of black and purple blossoming from the sigil and engulfing the chains, which immediately began dissolving… Mere time-buying, new chains taking space of the dead ones and pursuing me like the beast—teleporting is impossible without preparation…

“Lady Patchouli!” Meiling yells, a punch whisking by her face, leaving a bloodied cut. Wide-eyed and channeling her ki, Meiling grabbed the imitator by the forearm and, simply, hurled her over her head and onto the ground, the pressure of the body meeting soil creating what I can only explain as a geyser of dirt. It didn't kill the monster, but gave Meiling enough time to sprint towards Fakechouli, a Spellcard burning to be used, the magical chains receding as my copy teleported away from Meiling—

—a punch almost caved my face in; I floated backwards, Fakeling following… Suddenly my body splits into two, the one in front of me serving as shield and tanking Fakeling's next attack, skin and flesh dematerializing into thick papyrus, blood of scriptures, a gaze of death, arms of paper latching onto the attacker's arm…

A moment, I was far enough; the next, my paper copy exploded, a suicide bomber. I tsked—knowing the real deal, 'twas barely a scratch…

… Sekai is waiting for something; that’s why time is slowed down and not stopped.

She needs me and Meiling alive when the time comes.

Likely, the timing must be perfect…

But what is that?

Blonde hair - Perhaps more vibrant once upon a time, but faded almost to the point of being white - Hung down in scraggly strands that looked like they hadn't been combed in many years. A faded red bow sat limply on her head, also looking somewhat uncared for. From her shoulders, an open vest hung, red, but in that velvety sense where it was bordering on black depending on the lighting. In the current lighting? Well, it was mostly black. Her dress behind that was white, and strangely looked pristine. The most striking things about her where thus: Her teeth, pointed and sharp, which I saw thanks to the insane smile she was giving me. Her eyes, which looked like they were already deciding which parts of me would be best to eat. And most of all, her wings. Two massive wings, unfurled and brushing against the ceiling of the hallway inside. They were white and feathery, and they looked like they were probably extremely soft to the touch. Something like Shameimaru's, but the opposite colour. Of course, the expression on her face was probably very important too, but at the very least she had yet to broke through the window itself.

"Wh-What the hell is that?" Yura asked faintly, finally stumbling back from wherever she'd automatically tried to escape to. "Who - Why is she looking at us like that?" This, I replied, was probably one of the other residents of Miss Yuuka's mansion. Inside, I was panicking slightly, but if she hadn't broken through the window on the first attempt, I wasn't sure if she would. "Why does she have things like this inside...?" I'd yet to establish that little detail, so I simply watched, trying not to look too scared.

The girl reared back a fist, then punched the window as hard as she could. I silently thanked Miss Yuuka's defences, because the window didn't even budge. The girl laughed. I couldn't hear it, but I could feel the energy that it exuded. Apparently, Miss Yuuka's windows were secured against sound, unless it was on the windows themselves. The girl punched the window a second time, getting the same result. Laughing even more, she stepped back and raised her hand. A feeling of foreboding ran through me, and I got ready to run. Her hand was glowing with a sickly pale blue light, and I had a feeling that something very strong would be coming my way any moment, but I felt like a rabbit must feel when it saw an approaching fox, because I couldn't seem to move.

A hand tapped the girl's shoulder politely. Frowning, she looked behind her, and that was enough. The arm shot out, and suddenly the girl was hanging in mid-air, held up only by Miss Yuuka's grip on her face. Miss Yuuka - short hair, skirt, red eyes - tilted her head. Her eyes caught mine, and she nodded genially. Then, with complete nonchalance, she spun and slammed the girl headfirst into the wall. The hit didn't seem to do anything, so she repeated it several times, then hurled her into the floor. Seemingly dazed, the girl tried to stand, only for Miss Yuuka to plant a boot on her face, stamping down several times for good measure. That, apparently, still wasn't enough, because she then dropped to her knees, straddling the girl's chest, and began to punch her in the face.

And she did not stop.

She continued, over and over, seemingly inexhaustible in her strength and stamina, and the girl's body jerked with each punch long past what I would have thought to be the end. "Ah." I blinked, spinning to look at the speaker in confusion. Miss Yuuka - long hair, trousers, green eyes - impassively stared back at me. "I rather wondered where Gengetsu had gotten to. It's a good thing I found you when I did, or you might have been in a spot of trouble. That light that you saw? Well, she probably could have levelled Mugenkan and anything in a straight line from it for a long while." That certainly sounded bad, but I was still very confused. Inside the mansion, the other Miss Yuuka had finished punching the girl - Gengetsu - in the face and dragged her back off of the ground. She spun on the tip of her feet and hurled Gengetsu with an overarm throw, sending the girl - White wings stained with blood and forced downward by the momentum - hurtling down the corridor. I couldn't see that far down properly but she seemed to crash into the floor, bounce a few times, and finally smack into a wall.

And then, she got up.

That was probably the most baffling part, if the two Miss Yuukas weren't enough. Gengetsu got up, looked down the hallway at us all, then turned and walked out of sight. The Miss Yuuka inside turned to look at me, Yura, and the other Miss Yuuka, tilted her head, and walked toward us. She placed her hand on the glass. "She will behave herself and she will be perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, she makes for excellent stress relief."

My blood was frigid, limbs trembling. What's Koutei doing?! I looked at him, the Dragonscale Chiljido gleaming with murderous intent and towering over Yukari, who reciprocated the stare with odd placidity, eyes cold and focused, not an ounce of fear, as if she had no worries that, in a fight, she'd win. Seiga hummed, pulling her chisel from her tousled hair, ready to run away if things went awry. Ran had a Gap opened by her hand, and a droplet of sweat on her forehead exposed the true feelings beneath that calm facade. The dragon had an infinite wrath behind his eyes, clutching the handle of the seven-branched sword and ready to move the very world with the promised swing. “K-K—”

“Kasen,” he spoke in dragon tongue, halting my words, my powers allowing me to understand. “We can kill her together. End your torment.” Yukari was staring at me with an intrigued smile.

“K-Koutei… I know you want the best for me, but this is not the answer—Gensokyo depends on Yukari to survive—”

“Then we kill her, and so Gensokyo dies together.” His voice rumbled the world with deep-seated rage, Seiga looking tenser by the second, the people on the shore staring as if watching a world-shattering event. My heart rate already through the roof had reached a new level, body suddenly stopped quivering as sobering thoughts washed over me. “A forest cannot remain unchanged forever. It has to burn its old to make way for the new—and this woman is a parasite that needs to burn.” Yukari's smile was growing, parasol's end against the ground, meeting Koutei's death glare head-on. How can sh—

“Your pet seems to be misbehaving, Kasen.” She said, Ran trembling with the tone; Seiga looked morbidly aroused.

“I-It's not like this; K-Koutei is just—”

“Done. I am done with Kasen's enslavement!” He yelled in Dragon tongue, my eyes bulging even more and my teeth clenching. Yukari hummed, nodding to herself… I gawked at her and, calmly, she smiled at me, a dangerous twinkle in her purple eyes—

—She was understanding everything. She used the Gap to manipulate the boundary of comprehension…

“Don't worry, Kasen. I'm not mad at your misbehaving pet, who is proclaiming to kill me; I'm just disappointed. Control it, please.” I gulped glaciers, slowly turning to Koutei. Behind that deep wrath, a sadness threatened to sprout.

“Please, Kasen… It's unbearable to see your defilement.” Somehow, the whimpering and imploring voice of a massive beast that could level mountains in minutes was especially gut-wrenching. Tenderly, I reached forward, the dragon moving the sword to the side—the displaced air making violent air currents—, to be eye-to-eye with me, my hand brushing the rough skin beneath his massive eye. “I came back to you… But you are fading away…”

I contained my tears, knowing full well the three stares piercing my back—Ran had pity and ears down; Seiga looked thrilled and amazed; and Yukari kept that confident, cold smile of just now. “I know, Koutei, I know… But I love this land! I cannot burn it down…” Reimu flashes in my mind, her smile; Hana's; Anon; Satori, Yuugi, Suika—I simply cannot let all die because of me; not when there's a chance things will change… No matter how low the chance is, “And I know Y-Yukari is working to make it better! When the sword comes out, too, I'll be free.” My whispers didn't seem to reach him, unlike my lies, the large eye closing as if in incisive pain. “Just… wait a bit more, okay? Things will get better.” I place my forehead against his skin, hugging his face as if a kid trying to hug a tree.

Koutei whimpers one last time before moving away from me, burning eyes over Yukari, my heart throbbing—a small hope pleads him to strike her down, but I swiftly snuff it like the weeping cry it is—and, with a defeated look, Koutei stores back the sword inside his body, the thing disappearing in a billion contrasting greens. “I am sorry for my display.” He uttered and before the entire Underground, a dragon bowed to a woman.

Yukari's smile grew tenfold, almost silly-looking. “Good~very good!” The ground beneath us suddenly faded, a Gap consuming and throwing us by the foot of the dragon statue—

—which sprouted from the water as if with life of itself, Gaps all around it—

A shriek of anguish jammed me cold, wide-eyes rushing to Koutei and… My heart was ripped apart: the statue's mouth closed around his neck, caving into the strong scales. “Y-YUKARI, WHAT ARE—”

“Bowing is not enough. Bad pets should be punished~” Hundreds of Gaps started opening and chains, loud and terrifying, began sprouting—n-no, those aren't chains… But 'trains' melded together to look like massive chains—which caved into the statue, making a cruel and makeshift contention collar—

I'm crying. I'm utterly crying; each of Koutei’s cries of sheer suffering destroyed what remains of my soul. My friend, one I watched grow since the egg… Was being chained like a mongrel, his echoing pain a song—

—Because of me. Of my egotistical wishes…
