For hours they fought in the sky up above,
Flan used Starbow Break, Lavatein, even Maze of Love
They dodged and they countered, they bombed and they grazed
it looked like Flanfly could be seeing the end of her days

The opposition was too much, Flan could barely think
Meanwhile Reimu was preparing Fantasy Seal -Blink-
She shot the attack, it was over for sure.
Little did they know Flan multiplied by Four

ONE was too many, Four brought the girls to tears
Suddenly, x4 Ripples of Four Hundred Ninty Five Years
The Eight girls wound up paying a hefty toll
Flan, would continue her trek to the North Poll

It was a long trip but she was finally here.
"THE NORTH POLE! SNOW FLAKES! SANTA, ELVES AND REINDEER!"
Flan Barrel Rolled in glee as she quickened her pace
Alarms then went off as she entered Workshop Airspace...

Started playing touhou about a little over a month ago. 1CC'd normal after a couple of weeks, and after 2 straight weeks filled with probably 150 attempts at extra (reaching Flan perhaps 40 time), finally got Flan down 5 days ago. I use easy mode MarisaB though.

Can you explain what this Starbow Break "safe spot" is? This was probably persistently the spellcard that gave me the most trouble, after maze of love.

Flandre was my first Extra kill. With Marisa A, not terribly hard. I confess that the first time I downed her, I used the Starbow Break safe spot. I have legitimately captured the card since.

Suwako was my 2nd. Took far fewer attempts. Mishakuji was the only really hard part. Suwa Wars, however, was the most fun timeout card of any extra I've played.

I've taken Mokou down to the waning seconds of her last card before wiping out. Very, very satisfying extra mode EXCEPT for Fujiyama Volcano. What a bitch of a card.

I've made casual attempts at Ran, but haven't downed her yet. Not too difficult, but my twitchiness in early attempts kept me from making it past her timeout. Don't particularly care to put in the effort to down her since I hate PCB.

I really wanna try out Koishi. She, Mokou, and Flandre make up my favorite 3 Extra bosses both musically and character-wise. Youkai Polygraph just seems like such an amazing card as well.

I can make it to Rainbow Starbow on Eosd Extra, but I can't get any further then that, and furthermore, I can't play Pofv for shit.

One does not simply Starbow Break into Mordor

>> No.4867352 [View]

1. Open EoSD.
2. Select character and start.
3. Be greeted by Flander who immediately proceeds to Starbow Breaker you to oblivion.

EoSD is not a puzzle game.
Unless the spellcard has (un)intentional safe spots (like starbow break, eternal meek or IN extra death fairy) or don't use any random numbers, you'll always have to react differently.

Alstroemeria is the only circle to remix Starbow Dream and some of the other unused tracks, as far as I know, so they get like +800 points for digging deep.

I confess I safespotted Forbidden Sign: Starbow Break.
I have captured it legitimately from time to time, just not in my first full clear.

So how far can you go through Flandre?

I usually lose by Maze of Love or Starbow Break. Sometimes if I'm lucky I get as far as Catadioptric but I can't get past there. I imagine Counter Clock to be a complete nightmare.

Kudos to anyone who beat her.

I'll try for a run with Marisa A later. So she comes out on top for Royal Flare, I'll give you that. However, that's one of the few Extra spells that don't give you room to move up close. Pretty much every spell except for Philosopher's Stone (debatable), Q.E.D., Starbow Break, and a few noncards provide wide open opportunities to shotgun the boss.

I lost two lives on Four of a Kind, and then last one on Starbow Break. Totally pointless.

actually Master Spark didn't do very impressive damage against his final form, even with full SP and a big magic buff, I almost thought he was still in his MYS form (which was annoyingly the last elemental form he used, it was the most dangerous to me) which looks similar. Spark did like 100k, Starbow Break did 65k, Gugnir did 45k. I sparked several times during the fight though so it was definitely useful (used Marisa right at the start so she could get a speed buff, then also sparked two of the elemental forms... did 200k damage to his SPI form).

Marisa was one of my most useful characters for random battles, until 15F, where everything started being resistant to her; Spark is handy for nearly every boss fight though (except resistant bosses like Yukari)

After you finish the 6 elemental forms and he goes back to his (final) non-attribute form, he only has 200k HP left, just burn him down. Starbow Break, Master Spark, and Gugnir finished him off for me. The Japanese wiki scared me into thinking he'd one-shot my characters like Mokou does in her final form, but I guess he just spams that one attack and it eventually overwhelms you; I took one hit from it and it didn't even kill Marisa (who had already Sparked anyway) and barely scratched a heavily buffed Remi.

The wiki reccomends level 90-110 for the fight, I grinded until Remi was 90 before trying it (I've kept her in my party nearly 100% of the time for max XP). During the fight the main key is keeping buffs up as much as possible (Reimu/Yukari) and burning down each elemental form pretty fast (they have around 230k or so HP I believe). It might have just been luck, but he never used that nasty non-attribute all-target attack during the elemental forms on my successful attempt (on a previous attempt I lost too many of my offensive characters early, each form dragged on a long time, and he kept mixing in that nasty attack). Don't even try debuffing him, I dumped Komachi from my party after the first attempt; also defensive stats are quite valuable, you can seriously reduce his damage with defense, Komachi sucks here.

Stick with durable characters, except for Marisa and maybe Chen, who won't be staying in play very long. Patchy or Suwako will get destroyed by the all-target physical attacks. I used Tenshi (virtually invincible) and Meiling for tanks; Remi, Suika, Flan, Chen, Marisa as my only attackers; Sakuya, Yukari, Reimu, Ran for support (tossed an attack or two with some of them also), and Minoriko (+Reimu and Meiling) for healing. He bullshit one-shotted Minoriko and Chen with single-target attacks when they were in the back, but they were the only characters I lost.

I don't care much for it myself either. I do like the retexture patch though.

Flandre is notable in that she is the only extra boss with a 100% exploitable safespot on one of her cards. I think it's Starbow Break?

And yes, fuck EoSD Lunatic. I do not want to even count how many times I failed Scarlet Meister's capture.

>> No.3183851 [View]

Her Extra is the most straightforward and besides that one safespot in Starbow Break/following her spell circle in Maze of Love you just dodge shit.

What the hell this is fucking with my eyes. I just died on Laevatein, but captured Starbow Break.

>> No.2782912 [View]

Suwako and Koishi are the easiest.
Koishi has none and Suwako has only 2 cards that you will have to bomb.

I think Ran is harder than Yukari, but I haven't played PCB EX/PH in a while. (They are both easier than their stage)

Flandre's and Mokou's cards are both full of bugs and bad game design (laevtein(fly around Flandre, starbow break (top left), maze of love (bottom dodging), xu fu dimension (not be hit by blue cards at the bottom, shrine something (familiars don't shoot bullets when you're in them) etc.), but Mokou's non-spellcards are harder and many of her spellcards are nearly impossible without spellcard training or watching replays or others.
Therefore: Mokou is the hardest.
