hello new here, been grinding my gears doing weekly japanese group lessons for a few months and getting nowhere. Found itazuraneko/tmw a few days ago and I feel like i've made more progress than my last few months of lessons with a native teacher.

First noob question.
My teacher has taught us to use a 'hard' g, but now that im using anki most of the readings have the soft 'nga' sound. is this a dialect thing or an important distinction?
Example word would be 違います。
Is it chiGaimasu or chiNGaimasu?
