Yes, she got fucked by the ASMR regulations as did Mel. She was one of the biggest things in Holo at one point, really fucking weird to think about now.

It's not like she doesn't stream at all anymore, more like my position is even if you for example forced the top 10 Holos to stop streaming for a week and made Choco stream daily to force attention, she might get a couple new followers but people would simply return to their oshis once they startup up again. Mel has been attempting to vie for attention lately doing all sorts of random ass collabs and getting in on the Understale shit etc. Still pulls like, <2k viewers despite all that. It's really hard to change peoples' habits and expectations of who they can realistically follow often. Mel would have to keep it up with daily streams for months to really move the needle I think and I .. don't think that's likely, when being a Holo is her 2nd or 3rd job. The early hires were in a way more casual mindset overall and many haven't bothered to capitalize on Holo's rise. Comparing someone like her or Ayame's motivation and outlook, to someone like Polka who had been in this business for a decade? You can't.

I suspect there are lots of clues in this episode.

Watanagashi is always held on the 3rd Sunday of June so the actual date is different every year, which is why in 1984 Watanagashi is held on the 17th. So the list of dates Watanagashi is held on for the decade around when our story takes place is this:

1978 - 18th
1979 - 17th
1980 - 15th
1981 - 21st
1982 - 20th
1983 - 19th
1984 - 17th
1985 - 16th
1986 - 15th
1987 - 21st
1988 - 19th

We know in Gou that Rika survives for 5 years after 1983, surviving until 1988 before being sent back to 1983. Coincidentally 1983 and 1988 share the same date for Watanagashi, the 19th. We could have already guessed that the day Rika dies in 1988 would be on or around Watanagashi, so nothing really new here.

Something else I may have noticed is that the dates for Watanagashi across the years are suspiciously close to the dates that Rika dies on throughout Nekodamashi. It shouldn't be too much of a surprise that this is the case, seeing as she always dies around about Watanagashi. But I thought this might help explain the pattern of Rika's death dates in Nekodamashi. We don't know Rika's death date for sure in Akasaka's fragment, but in Akane's fragment it is on the 15th (the earliest possible date for Watanagashi) and in Kimiyoshi's it is on the 21st, (the last possible date for Watanagashi). K1's is on the 13th and Satoko's is on the 12th, these are too early to ever be the third Sunday in June. The closest I can get to fitting the Watanagashi dates to Rika's death dates is starting in 1980 with Akane's fragment and following with Kimiyoshi's on 1981.

1980 - 15th (Akane's fragment)
1981 - 21st (Kimiyoshi's fragment)

With some fucked up thinking we can also get:

1982 - 20th (Exactly one week after K1's fragment on the 13th)
1983 - 19th (Exactly one week after Satoko's fragment on the 12th)

Using this logic I would also assign Akasaka's fragment to 1979 (so he killed Rika on the 17th). I have no evidence for this and it's just conjecture, but this gives us 5 fragments, one for each life in Rika's countdown, across the dates of the original 5 years of Oyashiro-sama's curse, starting from June the 17th 1979 with the death of the dam construction site manager, Satoko's parents on the 15th in 1980, Rika's parent's on the 21st in 1981, Satoshi and his Aunt on the 20th in 1982. There are a variety of victims and dates in 1983, but some at least happen on the 19th during Watanagashi. But I'm probably searching for something that isn't there judging by how far I have to stretch the logic to make the data fit the pattern.
