I'm good at concepts that you're meant to "understand" or "derive. Like I'm good at maths, mechanics, dynamics, as long as I understood the concept I can repeat whole derivations from first principles.
OTOH I suck at pure memorization. When I was a kid I was forced to memorize scripture (in a foreign language) and was beat when I couldn't.
I was also bad in Uni at any memorization-focused subjects like Chem and Material
