Well, it's a preponderence of evidence. There was a leak on reddit that said JAST was working on Muramasa and it was posted by a JAST employee. Moogy was working on a project with Makoto (who translated Hanachirasu by the same writer and had a partial TL of Muramasa back on TLWiki) for several years, and the brief things he's said about it line up with Muramasa and not really anything else. If it's not that I honestly have no clue what it would be and I don't think anyone else does either. And no Tokyo Necro doesn't fit.

It's all Moogy's fault. With his oldfag status, ownership of tlwiki and elitist sperg superpowers he could meme any game into a hyped kamige. Nowadays he doesn't even write about eroge because every game he praises gets trolled and his industry friends silenced him because they don't want him to betray people's expectations and affect sales again. He just resorts to tweeting yuri and vtubers now like a demented old man in a reitrement home.

What the FUCK happened to Moogy? I remember years ago when he was in full edgelord mode, complaining about every single fan translation that wasn't produced by his tlwiki mafia and claiming every single game he was jerking off about at the moment was an untranslatable masterpiece that requires you to have a phd in linguistics, philosophy and yamato damashii. Now he doesn't even read eroge, plays shitty rpg maker games and posts 2hu and yuri crap. Next thing he's going to come out as trans and complain about toxicity and sexism in eroge? What or who made him reduce himself to such an abomination?

Remember that rant Dovac posted about how he's not really an asshole, he just pretends to be one? That entire group enables and runs interference for that behavior.

As someone who was on their IRC for quite some time, you would not believe the amount of venom they would spew about them, especially Ixrec. It pales in comparison to the stuff they said publicly. It was mostly just bitter jealousy, I think. Which isn't to say that there weren't objective issues with those translations that Moogy and his ilk rightly pointed out, they were nevertheless always colored by irrational anger. You could feel a personal grudge behind all of their posts.

It's just compensation I guess. Moogy is neither physically nor mentally healthy, nor has he achieved anything of note in his life. Appearing as a big boy on the internet is the most he can do, though it is kind of funny how utterly irrelevant he is these days, though in my opinion TLWiki's relevance was never that big anyway.

The cartel is basically Moogy and his friends. They are older than Sekai project as Moogy is the guy who made TLwiki. They tend to be associated with Sekai though as Moogy seems biased towards the company.

Only other guy I can name off the top of my head is Herkz.

Funny story.
Back when my friend finished writing his thesis on the history and projection of eroge in the western market for his Japan Studies degree, and I was midway through formal Japanese classes circa 2011 iirc, he decided to translate Schatten since he'd have plenty of time. I was only starting my 2nd year in Comp. Sci. so I didn't really know all of the technicalities of reverse engineering an engine but I did know about TLWiki, so we went looking for help there.
Turns out that moogy was adamant about not letting anyone else touch that game so we got turned down, and we left it at that, wondering if it was because they were already working on it or something since they had announced some other version of the game recently.

While I'm happy about an official release, it still keeps me wondering about what could have been.

Wow, he really let it get to his head. Not in the ironical Moogy-heika-dono way, but it seems like he really is convinced he played a huge role in the growth of the translation scene. Moogy, you only accelerated the process. TLWiki facilitated translations, but it did not truly create anything. It was the host, not the source. "The Chaos;Head project and other high-profile translations from TLWiki and related groups" implies TLWiki was a fan translation group. It never was. The various TLWiki projects were all made by different teams, some of which shared members - and that was the power of TLWiki, connecting people. But TLWiki never 'produced' anything; the groups using it as a host did. Everything that happened back then would still have happened even without TLWiki, if perhaps slower and less efficiently.
