I havent walked around with one but just based on my brief use of the Doc Johnson mini:

The material on these particular ones are a silky silicone type material, so I think they might stay put a but better than the generic plastic ones.

You definitely are better off using more lube than less, just to play it safe, but I honestly think that these are made to be fool proof so you may be able to get away with skimping some.
