Same here. Goto makes me laugh pretty frequently. I fucking hate the "jokes" that are simply based on being loud and making a stupid face.

Theravada: sticks to rigid traditional rules, problems are minimal since its largely unchanged since old times
Chinese: early mahayana development, mainly based on devotional school
TIbetan: later mahayana development (also vajrayana) mainly scholastic with fringes of tantric
Zen: Based on Chinese + Japanese deviancies like sex/marriage/alcohol/violent. All things that basic buddhist try to avoid.

It's not really organized religion, just a collection of folk practices based in animism. It was heavily influenced by buddhism later.

Did anything based come out this m3/reitaisai? Everything seems pretty mediocre compared to c88, especially electronic.

Give it to me straight /jp/, would these designs look tacky when converted into doll form? I've wanted to create a doll based off of my oc's for so long but I've held back due to lack of funds and the fear that at the end of it I just wouldn't like the finished product and then I'd be left with a non resellable custom I'd spent thousands on.

I was reffering to the monkey from the tale a Journey to the west that Dragonball is loosely based on. The monk of the story keeps a hold of the monkey by chanting sutras that makes the headband on his head cause unbearable headache.

Even with that there's a lot more strategy involved. Those things you mentioned can add up, but it doesn't make up the entire game. Hong Kong mahjong boils down to being lucky enough to have enough pairs in your starting hand so you declare pon. You haven't seen pon palace until you've played HK mahjong.

There's absolutely no strategy involved, because there aren't enough variations in patterns like Riichi (iipeikou, tanyao, pinfu, etc) that make the game a lot more flexible. You need 3 fan to win off a hand (try doing that without tanyao, pinfu, or pretty much any yaku with sequences), instead of one yaku like in Riichi. Most of the other winnings hands are entirely based off luck, ones that would be worth yakuman in Riichi. There's no sort of pressure, baiting, or anything, just pure luck.

Are you serious? Riichi mahjong is the most RNG-based variation in the world. It has dead wall, doras, aka doras, ura doras, riichi discards, different pure luck based bonuses as double riichi, ippatsu, etc.

People only really fear him the way people fear strange cops. Someone with the power to destroy your future or kill you based solely on their own judgement and suspicions is a terrifying thing.

That's totally different than people you know or elect like a sheriff or PR cops on a good gig like the ones in tourist areas.

But he's basically the eager new boy sent to bust up the gangbangers in the ghetto.

Looks like nutritious and hearty noodles. It emphasizes the noodles by having them in their own dish. Looks delicious. Although, I prefer a thick milk-based sauce with shellfish.

I found translation to be a great way of practicing the language. it forced me to get familiar with grammar and it helped kanji and kana stick.

one half is getting the meaning from japanese, the other half is expressing it in english. it's tricky because japanese is subtle and very context-based, and it has cultural references and nuances that you can't always get across. and to translate well you also need to be very proficient at writing english prose.

most fan translations I've seen tend to be really clumsy and literalist. there's an obsession with making it accurate, but not with making it a quality work that doesn't come off stilted to a native english speaker.

translating, and doing it well, is pretty taxing mentally. if you're not getting paid well and it's not a labor of love, you probably won't stay motivated.

Definitely biollante, without a doubt. They're both plant based and have lots of vines. They're also both cute as a button and like to hug.

Ah, OK.

The guy had made a Zilla-chan poster that was based off of the animated series with a bunch of kaiju girls in the background, but I've never seen it, so that explains it.

I didn't even know the animated series made it to Japan. I've even seen the GODZILLA movie, I only know about Zilla from the comics. Those are pretty good, especially the latest "Godzilla goes to Hell" series, that was fucking great.

It's not really quests based. The quests just give you exp cards you can use to skip grinding, and boring background story. The quests don't really do much of anything in and of themselves.
