first of all its important to know of SMR VS CMR. If you go SMR drives (all cheap Seagates up to 8TB for example) you get a good prize, but with downsides. It doesnt matter if they are bare or in an enclosure.

- no Raid in any form as they are not meant for such a usecase and will break sooner or later (rather sooner) if in RAID
=> good for occasional downloaders. getyourself 2, or 3. Connect them via usb and fill them up with jav. As long as you dont access them the whole time or rearrange the data very often they are good to go. write once, read often

CMR, now this is the good stuff. Everything over 10TB above will be this. You can further distinguish between NAS (IronWolf, IronWolf Pro both Seagate) or Enterprise (Exos for Seagate). Enterprise hdds are even better than NAS ones

It does not matter if they are enclosed or bare metal. Well sometime you will run out of usb ports. You can increase the number with usb hubs, but as usb 3.0 is very energy intensive you can not connect them endlessly to the same usb hub and usb port. I got 8 usb hdds working with the same hub but you cant access them at the same time over a longer period of time or the usb hub will go mad and break eventually (happened twice to me in almost 15 years).

for bare metal you can get yourself a JBOD enclosure (2 ports till up to 8) and connect them directly to your machine

You'd have to find something a bit more in depth. But I don't remember Maxwell cards being able to handle files like that. It won't matter for JAV VR - that's 4096x2048 and it's still AVC minus Afesta files so your GPU will decode it.

Some do, some don't. Nao's got subs from JAV.guru if I remember correctly.
However, almost all will have Chinese subtitles which you can translate fairly reliably with DeepL and Google Translate in conjunction. I highly recommend using both rather than just one or the other in order to cross-check translations

If you can't find a specific one in either of those and it matters that much to you, you can
1. look for a Chinese srt file on subtitlecat if it exists - if it does, skip to step 5, if not, keep going. Note: you can probably ignore the English file if there is one since it'll probably be machine translated badly anyway
2. in the absence of a separate Chinese .srt file, look for a video with hardcoded Chinese subtitles by searching the code followed by 中文字幕 and download it. as long as you're not looking for something too obscure, you'll probably find it
3. run it through videosubfinder which isolates the subtitle lines as images
4. run those through ABBYY Finereader which converts them to text through optical character recognition (OCR) technology
5. run the subtitles through DeepL and Google Translate
6. expect to make some manual adjustments to taste/fix grammar and colloquialisms, etc
7. enjoy

An alternative is through a program called Whisper that will detect the dialogue with AI tech and transcribe it. This is a relatively new development and some sirs on this general have had mixed results.

Did some JAV uploaders together make a choice to stop free links? I'm trying to download older GTJ and other BDSM JAV and until very recently two German and Armenian users on JAVlibrary always posted free Takefile links. However, now looks like all of their previously free links which I had bookmarked after checking that they were free are replaced by premium only links. On JAVpage too, looks like at least some links have changed to premium only. If this happened for past a certain filesize, I could understand it as an automated change on Takefile, but I checked some I already had downloaded and at least some still are free on JAVpage. So, what is this? An expansion of the gatekeeping of JAV piracy to those who still pay even when it's piracy?

For me, if where I live such fetish JAV was legal to buy or at least unenforced like simple possession, then paying would be only an inconvenience following the procedure of some sirs to spend one month pirating everything that you have bookmarked. I'd do it because it would be worth it and at least try to reupload them for other sirs too to help preservation.
