I never knew Leonardo drew cats but thank god he did. Dam, they really remind me of henry moores sheep. Looks like i'lI have some fun comparisons to do.

this will sure be handy for my on going evaluations notes. You mention things that not me or my peers or my tutors saw so thats really helpful actually. I will have to look out for that line sensitivity your getting that. Interesting.

Its nice to have a starting point for the Oriental contextual as I didnt have much ideas for starting points. I bet I could make some connections to the bosch research I did with this aswell. Noice.

Wow this is really beautiful. I'd definitely use this for some contextual and it looks like its got some nice colours to talk about. The inspiration for the mandala I got from watching samsara. Its there that i became interested in the concept of art being a form of meditation- been using rothko and dali to look at that concept and exploring it with blind and dual handed drawings ect. Shame I cant just do a massive circular pattern with sand in the dirt and dance all over it for finals.

After coming up with that first initial response I decided to examine the most obvious literal interpretation of that structure which was the fibonacci sequence. I did some research on the symbolism behind the fibonacci sequence and how its been compared to the concepts of consciousness. My first visual study was of a rams horn

I have to say though thank you for your interest and apologies for the extent of the unintelligability of this project I get confused too tbf. Its a really personal response and I tend to fall into the rediculously complicated concepts. Its pretty linked to my personal beliefs of how life is valued and how living beings are equal in mind at a meditative level. Alot of it is spiritual/dream like bullshit. Not most peoples cup of tea but I sure like exploring it. I had an idea of a vortex with the centre being true enlightenment which is inside all creatures- and the crazy lines lead off to thr branches of life- which is all walks of life- and they all lead back in a criss cross fashion and ofcourse paths of all creatures cross eachother every now and then. So the op was the first idea I could think of to illustrate that concept- as an abstract symbol-but I want to study living beings visually to literalize the idea slightly, then bring it back to abstraction through pattern. Im thinking of some intricate circular mandala with patterns made from the shapes of animals and textures from eyes and stuff. Aswell as perhaps a 3D centre piece? Im not to caught up in the final piece just yet anyway. Theres no easy way to explain this project im afraid. Im shocked anyone waited it out this far.

the course is definitely bullshit intensified. I was expecting hard hitting studies of objects and faces and proportions but there has been none of that. Infact if I spend too much time focusing on one thing I will lose marks on the project.
We have to scratch the surfaces of all the visual language elements and art theories rather than dwelving into one. And they aint taught me jack shit about learning how to draw animals and faces which is my primary interest- infact I was discouraged from doing this alot- so during my summer break i'll set myself a project.
any literal intepretations are really shunned upon and seen as unprofessional. Idea generation and awareness of process and mistakes is more important than the work itself. Doesnt help that my tutor is an impressionism fangirl- its quite clashing with my interest and she thinks symbolism and surreal art is bullshit which is a shame because thats my most inspiring genres of art. what you said about the pictures telling the story was quite useful btw- I get caught up in trying to explain myself alot- and this is discouraged- but they want ambiguous artsy fartsy work at the same time and dont really explain how to visually explain abstract perspective. I have learnt things on this course in terms of broad techniques and processess but nothing has been in depth. In a way though I really wish the course was more about quality of work than quantity- not being able to spend an hour on a drawing is torturous.

They are drawn from a photograph. I have some charcoal doodles from real life references but they are pretty terrible. I got alot of learning to do face wise. I've been focusing on eyes more than anything in terms of human features. But when college is over I can focus on learning face proportions properly.

To sum it up though- I want to have the form and shape of specific animals lose a sense of identity so that they can be represented as a collective In a circular format.

Yeah the project is about connections in visual perception of different living things. later im also going to attempt to abstract the form of all these creatures so that they lose a sense of identity through abstraction and pattern-the goal is to represent them as a collective- but the project is on going atm- my project has to have on going evaluation about what technicalities worked and didnt work. But yeah, im thinking at the very end im going to create circular patterns with the forms of animals, hands and faces And perhaps applying texture and color and direction of naturally round organic matter like mushroom caps and eyeballs. additionally- the style of drawing is on purpose to deliberately represent the sculptural 3 dimensional planes of the forms to exaggerate that this is the physical form- but the looseness and scribblyness is meant to be a projection of how thought and subconsciousness flow within these creatures. The project isnt head on the most straight forward thing for me right now because I went overboard with a complicated concept but im working through it. I've been wondering what this stuff looks like to an outside source because I was guessing it would be confusing. I need to get a nailed down definition in my project proposal. This will help me edit it later actually. Ta for your interest btw.

Thank you for the response. it was insightful. I didnt pay much attention to those little drawings so im going to look at those for some pattern work- I see some potential taking them in that direction. OP is the very first visual response to 'structure of consciousness' but now that you mention it it would be useful to try to link this to physical real forms and tighten the drawing up a bit. And thanks for the nice words It was encouraging

Oh I also forgot. The critiques im looking for are pretty much technical but my evaluation can be pretty open. So anything really. Any advice for contextuals would be appreciated also.

there are notes to go along side this art as the project is suppost to be somewhat of an explorative journey of ideas. My course is not pathway specific yet so everything is kinda open. The general concept is suppost to be exploring structures in Physical conscious entities and the finishing point is going to be somewhat of an amalgamation of these studies- combining the language elements of different pieces of research based on organic structures. Writing isnt a massive part of it- its my first year of college so nothing is too complicated just yet. Hope that somewhat clears it up.
