I was told that when learning moon runes it's important to be anal about stroke direction/accurate kanji because some characters are just very similar, and especially in hand writing it can be hard to discern them otherwise.
To add to that, I remember as a wee lad that we were writing sheets full of a single character repeatedly. Pretty anal too right?

Industry standard for decades, incorporated into workflows of artists and designers, and extremely functional. There are some programs that do one or a few aspects that PS does better, but they fail in many others.
It's just a good program in my opinion, and maybe I'm biased because I've used it for 10+ years by now (as a graphic designer, not artist. Only recently started painting digitally), but I don't see anything replacing it anytime soon.

You don't "practice all over again" you retard, the fundies are still the same. Perspective, anatomy, color etc are all universal. Anime isn't that different anatomically anyway besides the head/facial features. If you actually learned something in your 1 year of studying fundementals your attempts at anime should be better.
So here's what's more likely the case: you're just beg tier in general and your work is ass regardless of what style you're attempting.
What does "1 year" mean anyway? Is that 3 hours a day, or a half hour every odd week? Keep practicing and save the whining for your diary.

Depends on what you think is better. It's more convenient in general, but 17 buttons (and a slider) vs 100+ keys of the keyboard...
I always wonder how people who use these feel when they have to put the remote down to do something with the keyboard because you'll without doubt run into things you can't/didn't program on your little gadget.

You're not going to get much feedback on something like this because there isn't much to critique on. There simply isn't much memorable about any "trippy" kaleidoscope type graphic like this.
For what it is it looks fine, but I have a hard time seeing the value in these graphics. The only thought it provokes from me is which filter/radial distortion/mirror effect I'd use to produce something like this effortlessly.
As a graphic it's alright, but it is no artwork that deserves a title.
