The neck would only be short like that on a very young girl. Or it might appear that way if the head was angled a certain way.

I also can't help but add this last part. I also wanted the mouth to be back further like that, but someone asked me to move it forward.

So I moved it forward as far as I could without it looking completely off.

Yes I'm OCD that's why I sent you like 50 replies.

I think the best fix is the jaw line blend into the neck, instead of a straight line going through her neck.

I did a version with that too but it wasn't requested as a fix so I didn't use it.

The eyes are really just a change in style more than a fix, but you did fix the far eye in relation to the side of the face.

Anyway, I've probably gone on too long. Again, nice and enjoyable! A great final picture for the thread. Definitely an improvement on the original.

I also like that you noticed and wrapped the eyebrows.

Very nice illustration of adding light weight, thick vs. thin, popping the main figure by contrasting the background value, and adding some accenting shadows.

Elongating the neck also looks beautifully appealing. And the additional foreshortening on the lips.

The lips are one of the things I would have done differently too if I were asked too. But the point of this thread was to take the advice of other people in correcting the picture so it didn't end up happening.

Anyway, overall beautiful rendition and thanks for your contribution, I really like it and appreciate it!

Not bad Nosebro, don't forget that the far side of the face is affected by perspective.

In your anime version you show the eye shortening which is good but on the realistic one you had both eyes roughly the same.

Also depending on the perspective and how forced it is the far eye could be a little smaller than the near one too, but it's a common anime convention not to do that from time to time.

Certain manga artists use perspective more strictly than others. Some really great perspective-using manga artists would include the famous Akira Toriyama, and one of my favorites, Sonoda - the Gunsmith Cats artist.

Your cartoons do have appeal though, so thanks for sharing!

You're welcome. If I see you again around here I will let you know it's me. I'm a Christian, so the niceness is coming from that. I appreciate kindness and good company especially in places where it appears to be rare.

I apologize that was completely unnecessary of me. Of course you'd understand your own advice to yourself. I shouldn't have made an unsolicited long rant comment like that, I'm sorry.

I don't think that advice would help you if you had to start over. You might wrongly think memory means you have to see the entire drawing before you draw.

I would say imagination drawing == 1. knowing how to draw in perspective, to construct, etc. whether you do it on the paper or in your head, or ghosting or whatever doesn't matter, and 2. Knowing your subject matter - this is where memory comes in. Your memory doesn't even have to be entirely visual. Just remember things ABOUT your object, forms obviously very important, textures, etc. And of course 3. And this is the most important one that separates amateur from profession - know what makes a drawing/painting APPEALING and think about, and apply that, to everything you do - build in contrasts pointing to focal points etc. Hiararchy etc. Contrast is pretty much everything.

This is why a genius like Amano can draw something that is anatomically impossible and it makes you want to weep for how awesome it looks and you can have a dude who has memorized every vein draw a flat unappealing muscle-guy that doesn't make you feel hardly anything.

By drawing I should correct myself - I appreciate your stylized tracing. XD Either way at least you took some time to give it a try.

It seems like you could be decent at cartoons. It really would be nice to see some of your own work if you'd want to share it.

Also please stop trolling in the thread, as someone else pointed out it's a kindness that no one reported it.

Thanks for having the courage Nosebro, I appreciate your drawing.

Very nice realistic face Akirel! You could erase the details in the shoulder/clothes for a greater effect, or try to make them flow with the form.

Maybe erase some of them except the ones that flow with the arm and are near the surface of a turning form. The inner lines add unwanted texture that don't describe anything and distract the eye.

Also, thanks for your awesome drawing! I love seeing people's renditions of my artwork.

Anyway I'll maybe be around later on I've got day-stuff to do.

Haha, thanks for the >Ayy

It's getting late for me so I'll have to leave it here. But if the thread isn't buried by tomorrow and I have the time I'll continue it.

If I have a butt load of time maybe we can even get to adding value at some point. OR maybe it'll just get archived. XD

If it doesn't disappear it depends what ends up on my schedule.

In the case that the thread just disappears I thank you all and it was nice meeting you guys especially the nice ones and those who gave me great advice <3

Have a good night!

I'll post a comparison shot right after this one then I'm out.

Yah, that's why I didn't take that part. But there are creative freedoms in drawing cartoons. Some people might like it like that so I don't judge it.

I stand corrected, indicating the deltoid looks pretty good, thanks Anon!

>> No.3027045 [View]

I'll see what I can take from that. I can definitely take the hair rounding out on the other side of the bangs. I'll try an indication of the deltoid but I'm not sure it will help anything.
