I set a timer for 30 minutes and then take a 5 minute break after those 30 and then just repeat that through out the day and I usually end up having spent 6-8 hrs by the end of the day. Could easily be pulling 10 or 12 hour days but like i mentioned earlier I get distracted way too easily.

Yeah you're right natural aptitude and intelligence are very similar, but I still think there's a bit of a difference. And I don't draw that much to be quite honest, only 6-8 hrs a day, should really stop getting distracted by other shit so I could focus on painting.

They reach a level at which they can be hired at in a year yes. But they're far from good if you look up their personal work and all of their work ends up looking like cheap Feng zhu rip-offs.
We'll see in a year or two if you're right or wrong anon, but even if I never earn a dime from art I'll still keep drawing

In your opinion where should I have been by now?
I've come to realize over the few years that I've been drawing that progress isn't something static like "in 2 years you should be here and in 6 years here" but it's totally dependent on the intelligence, natural aptitude and passion of the individual in question.
I have passion and a little bit of natural aptitude since I have very good visual memory, but I'm very stupid, probably below average in terms of IQ. So my progress will not be the same as someone who draws the same amount as me but fill all the 3 categories that I listed above, or someone who's just smart and "talented" lol

I suggest you do a 50-100 hour master study of someone you love the rendering of, Ruan Jia, HGJ are the one's I've done a few studies of and they can teach you more than you might think.
Also go and read up on cast shadows and ambient occlusion

Funny you mention Yoh he's tied first place with Ruan Jia for my favorite artist and I study his stuff regularly and especially back in 2015 I used to study him a lot.
I'm kinda split though on what style I want to pursue, seeing as there's a very low chance of me ever being hired as an illustrator despite it being what I enjoy doing most, I feel like aiming for a more stylized type of deal will get me further/anywhere at all.
Idk, we'll see what happens.

You can be really good at painting but still don't really know how to draw, but all your stuff will end up looking really weird. That's imo the biggest thing I'm struggling with personally, I can kinda paint or at the very least render something to look decent but my underlying drawing ability is close to beginner tier. I'd say focus on getting good at the thing you value the most, in my case painting and rendering, but still learn how to draw proper, something I'm trying to do now.

Doing shit like that isn't gonna get you anywhere unless you start a patreon lol, but we were talking about the style, i.e the big shiny eyes with a pointy chin, not what you decide to do with it.
As long as you're good at drawing anime and have a good design sense you could literally be hired by any studio that's known for doing stylized games, since your style doesn't really matter since it won't be featured in the final game.
Loish (someone with a very cartoony style) even did concept work for Horizon zero dawn, a realistic looking game.
Your style literally does not matter. As long as it's appealing to some extent and you know how to design and draw you're gucci my man

Half of Riot's filled with weebs, and a lot of other big and medium sized studios are filled with people with an anime or anime hybrid style.
Hell, even Blizzard has a bunch of artists who have a very anime-ish style
Just draw with the style that comes to you naturally and it'll work out, even if said style is full blown anime you'll succeed as long as you work hard
