Well, the books are just a helpful push, its actually the teachers perception that makes the difference.

Because if you interpret a book wrong, you still dont get anywhere.
So books are not as helpfull as practise and opinion.

Study, no matter how you put it, requires proper guidance, which i dont have.

But practise is the way to go, the biggest artists that ever existed didnt learn from book, they learned by perception.

So, i am asking for your perception, if all you wanna share is saying its crap, fine; but dont go promoting books, thats not art critique.

Did some color adjustments on my work. left is the old one.
Do the colors the right on look more pleasing, and what further improvements would the colors need in your opinion?

Hopefully colors will also look less bright and hard now i changed the vibrance of my cintiq.

OP here, found the problem.
I went into the nvidia control panel, and upped the color vibrance of the cintiq, now the shadings look bad in my art (too subtle), like they do on other media,s.

Hopefull this will allow me to shade better, so itl look less bright and hard on lcd monitors.

OP here, i just looked it up, and its basically shading without choosing a direction where the light comes from.
Which i indeed do, i need to decide a virtual light source when coloring.

yes , i would like to learn how to select better colors and values.
Problem is the colors on my cintiq are very dark.

While on other media it comes out very bright.
Is there a good way to compensate for the darker values of the cintiq tablet?

When it comes to 3, it needs to be a bit wider, a human skull from the side is not round, google for the side of a skull.
Then youl notice his jaw needs to be longer.

Also the eye needs to be moved a bit forward on 3, his eye sockets are too deep.

nice work, some tips.
Crotch area needs to be a bit lower, generally its 3 and a half heads down.
Also, right upper leg should be extended, its only half as long as its supposed to be.

No sir, i do it because i am passionate about my idea's, i love creating fantasy species, and even if it will never get me anything, i will still have enjoyed myself, and gave a physical form to my passion.

no, i only recently started showing work, and have been drawing for 10 years.
What i am new at is coloring, started last week when i bought a tablet.

But got no comments on it, so i suppose its acceptable.

But ofcourse there do was a point my art was shit, but thats years ago, tho, i am still not nearly content with what i create.
