> because we're on 4chan, we can't be held to any standard

What an misguided notion, and one that often comes to the defense of anything perceivable as lowly as far as common standards run.
Even 4chan communities have standards. This hardass board sometimes similarly kicks into gear at times when people post stuff in the right threads by rebuking the people who shit on them needlessly. Even if illegal or rule violating stuff is posted, it is quickly purged. Even the booktober incident was looked back on with a modicum of shame. There is a reason why a lot of projects that grow large eventually split from the site and form their own community. Not saying that will be the case with DAD. Point is, people with goals have standards, and they should. This isn't /b/ or /r9k/.
I've been here since week 1 LAS. The threads were once productive, people helped one another, and the shitposting was mostly made up of site memes and tier list threats. A far cry from what it is at the present moment.

No, I fully reserve the right to hold this disappointment, because I know the LAS threads have been better, and at the end of the day, the success of this relies on two things. The site and its community. I'll own all issues and successes with the site, but the onus is on the lot of you to facilitate an environment in which you can maximize your improvement. Big hint, driving away artists is probably not the way to go. People have already been asking for full account purges. If you find this stance prudish or 'puritanical', so be it. I can't govern what ultimately exists outside of the site, but I won't have any patience for this shit on the site itself.

It's not that I'm that influenced by it, nor do I have a particularly strong connection to the Discord outside of managing my site channel, the secret santa and diving in for a week or so every two months (you can even ask how sparsely I seriously participate in that community).

I might be emotionally soft, but I've been on 4chan for a long fucking time. I've browsed this place for a while; I've seen some shit. I've seen and reported literal and virtually recreated versions CP posted on /b/. I've seen doxxing and raids happen back in the 00s. I saw shitstorms evolve into chaos and others fizzling out into nothing.

Is this incident disturbing? Not to me, personally. Not by a long shot. No, I'm just kind of disappointed because for all your shitposting from the Rover and Loomis era to the pee posting, I thought you were at least above stunts like the /lit/ booktuber shit. That's not just for the person who did it, but the people justifying it or egging them on.

That being said, I'm not slowing down site development or anything. I made this site to honor Lava's mission and what he's done for me, but let that not detract from my annoyance at this little incident. The old LAS threads had an energy, productivity (at times) and a sense of community that was head and shoulders above /ic/ at large, but this takes it a few steps below even the /ic/'s standard. Sometimes /ic/ people are annoyed that we even have a presence here, and I've seen generals get booted off to /trash/ before and you don't want that as a new home. For all the talk a about how shit the LAS Discord is, the official "DAD" discord is dead and you're not making a great case for yourselves in the threads.

Simply put, you can do better. I'm just disappointed.

Site development is still continuing and something new might come this weekend contingent on my availability.

It's partially for people who wanted to upload animations but found themselves a bit restricted in the limit, thought 10.0 MB admittedly isn't so big.

Full-sizing isn't too brutal of a feature to implement, so I'll make a note of it.

A minor change has been pushed to the site.

A typo was fixed, a security issue was attended to, along with some bugs.
More importantly, the file limit has been increased to 10.0 MB. This is not necessarily permanent, and I will keep an eye on how this affect site performance and S3 hosting costs.

Please note: if you ever run into a security-related bug or exploit, PLEASE send a private message over Discord (or by email), do not post it in the threads or the discord channel.

Now, if you'll excuse me, someone is currently kissing my neck while fucking me up the ass without my consent, after forcing me to eat some disgusting pineapple pizza, which I begrudgingly ate since he had the patience to listen to me vent about some emotional problems. This is both confusing and highly unpleasant.

A minor change has been made.

Based on the results of the poll, comment character requirements have been reduced from 140 to 100.
Explicit site policy and general guidelines with regard to acceptable comments has been added.

Small stuff. I gotta go do drive out to a laundromat now, the dryer at my apartment's fucking busted.

Yes, but that's minor priority... or is it? A dev priority voting system is in the works.

I have been juggling ideas for an official meta-type DAD game similar risk-type games, a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly battle royale, a double-elimination idle rpg arena tournament thing, a nonsensical, auto-playing Mario Party-esque affair and so on.

Just integrating w's pull request to remove ww3 functionality since that's going offline.

I'm going to be pushing something small but probably pleasant for you blokes in a little bit.

On immediate examination, this is expected behavior. You have 11 submissions, and your score is 10, pending an increment. Bear in mind: scores only increment at the deadline, which we refer to as "rollover".

Dev this week may be a bit delayed. I found out some really unpleasant family-related things that I need to work through right now.

Don't let anyone take a good heart for granted.

There were, in the history of the threads, a good number of things said to my detriment, but this is the first one to genuinely hurt.

Is this really what you think of me?

We're keeping well below the memory thresholds in general, but we're having periodic large spikes.

I don't know what the source of it is, but if you're browsing and things are suddenly really slow out of the blue, let me know the conditions under which it occurred.

The idea is to improve overall comment quality, but maybe it's acting more of a barrier than a begrudging impetus.

Because of how well the performance changes have improved the memory use of the site, I can safely downgrade from a 2X Heroku dyno to a 1X.
From site management costs perspectives, this takes our average monthly cost from $75 to $50. A big change. I can consider dropping this even further (to $33) by using Hobby Dynos (which have the same memory capacity), but a 1X ensures 100% uptime through prebooting in daily dyno restarts.
Either way, happy day.

Alright, so, as it turns out, the emergency broken stuff is just someone not understanding how larger post period stuff goes.

As for BenDrawsComics, he seems like an earnest enough guy who probably just overlooked the rules (which probably shouldn't be hidden behind a link), so I'll err on the side of merciful and post a friendly reminder / warning.

> point taken, is dad gonna start completely not allowing client stuff then?

That's entirely up to the agreement between the artist and the client.
I don't and can't assume responsibility for what your client designates as an NDA violation. Nothing stops me from some random bloke running into me in the streets, shoving a photo in my face and saying "look at this anime commission it's totally top secret" and make me complicit in the violation.
Awful metaphor, but you get the point.

The question then becomes, can "obfuscated" material be considered kosher as far as submissions go.

>> No.3751706 [View]

>>3751705

Well, I mean, isn't that still technically a violation of an NDA?

I'm not going to be showing anybody it, but a professional client's going to be pretty upset if word gets out.
