You're right, the warning broken when I implemented the streaks last week. Did you draw today and submit it somewhere or was this a token vacation?

The little bit I wrote at the end about aimai stealing away the number one spot shouldn't be able to happen but it did because of a bug. The leaderboard now works the way I described it in the greentext.

It took a bit to figure it out but the default sort is by the streak column and ties are handled:

If there is a tie then the person who started their streak earlier wins. If you started at the same time then the person who posts first that day will win the tie.

>296 - flawless day 1er that has posted today is in 1st place
>295 - flawless day 1er that hasn't posted today is in 2nd place
>295 - flawed day 1er that has posted today is in 3rd place
>295 - flawless day 2er that has posted today is in 4th place

I think this is the best way to handle it. You could argue that it's a little unfair for the flawless day 2 to lose to the flawed day 1 but the day 2er wins on the flawless streak and flawless are just people than the rest of us so they probably won't mind

Just kidding. I bet Cath is going to hate never topping #7 while aimai the flawed can steal away the #1 spot (until one of the flawless posts)

Oh and it's a live leaderboard so for example a flawless day 2er that submits at 00:00:00 will show up with the day 1s. It's easy enough to change the sort so people who are a day behind stay at the bottom of the pack (if that's what people want)

Temporary leaderboards are up. I wasted hours playing around with the sorting and assigning ranks/places but that can come once the participation stat is figured out.

I haven't written up the next site news yet but the tl;dr is that I'm going to fix the elimination script because it's a trainwreck and it's not handing out tribunal punishments properly

Leaderboards will come up a little after the deadline. I want to implement the new stat tracking stuff before I push the leaderboards so things don't get out of sync. When it's done I'll put up a new site news

>where can you see others streaks?
>where can you see the longest streak?
You'll be able to see it on the leaderboards page by the Saturday deadline
>where can you see how many streaks you had?
Is that something people want? Like a streak history or something?

>>2726732
I created a poll asking if there should be tokens with the streak system and almost 70% said yes. I asked people to vote for what they thought was the best to keep people motivated and that may have swayed it. It'd actually be really easy to have a hardcore/flawless streak stat. The only downside is that it may become the only stat people care about but at least it doesn't encourage you to reset. That can be a vote some time in the future

New news up on the site. tldr: streaks are fixed, leaderboards up by Saturday. Leaderboards will contain current/live data so if you get eliminated you'll go from #1 to the bottom. To make up for this there'll be a hall of fame so you can see the most active/dedicated members and you'll be able to view your full stats on your user profile page. Getting eliminated will only set you back 2 points on the hall of fame so hopefully that works as a suicide deterrent.

The updates after the leaderboards will be a little boring because they'll be about figuring out which stats people care about, collecting that info and then displaying it but once that's done it makes things like badges, user profiles, a real leaderboards and the hall of fame a lot easier.

Whenever I fixed it for people I always went back and added their post as if they had submitted right before the deadline to avoid situations like this (token related issues.)

I'm thinking it has something to do with the token cooldown. I'm honestly not sure if it was 29, 30 or 31 days. I know it sounds dumb for me to not know but there are a bunch of small dumb mistakes that could cause this; either with the original token system or with the new streak calculator

No, there's no plan to. It was brought up a while ago about resetting the LAS when it went live but that was because of the week 1er obsession. With streaks I don't think it matters as much and I feel like the argument isn't very strong. The weekly challenges had that special club feeling and I can understand people feeling left out but with streaks it's like "they have a higher number because they started earlier." It's not the strongest complaint

If there's a big outcry I'll put a poll on the site but for now there's no plan to reset. The original LAS members will get their badges, the flawless will have their golden streaks and everyone gets to draw every day

New site news up
tl;dr: challenges are going away today, streaks and simple leaderboards will be up before the deadline on Monday. The next update will come with a new "site news" that'll lay out a plan and timeline for the next update.

Please don't. There's an announcement on the site

http://www.lavaflake.com/draw/announcements/?id=238

"Site News" announcements show up on the front page and are highlighted in green. People have been complaining about me posting updates on my blog, on /ic/, in banners on the site, etc and not having a single place to go to for information. I'll use this from now on for the important stuff

>Maybe you and w can work together

He asked about contributing to the site or going open source a long time ago but I always sidestepped the issue. It's not because I'm unwilling to work with other but I started the LAS with these core values that I can't compromise on and that's not good for a team environment.

Anonymity, no ratings, no views/follow numbers, no art policing, crowd sourced design decisions, crowd sourced moderation, no super users/moderators, etc. I've received a number of offers of help, both financially and from programmers, but they always talk about how big the site can be while my focus is on getting people to draw every day and getting good (if that's what they want.) I know they're not mutually exclusive but a lot of the design decisions that promote growth also shift the user's focus to appealing to other users instead of doing what's right for them.

I haven't checked out DED yet and I don't know how w's goals differ from mine but I think it'd be a dick move to offer now that he's started his own project.

There's plenty of LAS "grunt work" to be done that's really just finding interesting ways to format and display data (the challenge archives, leaderboards, etc.) I suppose I can set up a contributions page that links to the templates and libraries I'm using along with json LAS data dumps for people to play around with. If there's interest I can get that setup

>Also, Lava, can you clearly define somewhere on the site what forms of art are and are not allowed, there've been so many arguments I'm quite frankly fed up reading about it. moof/taylor continuew to sybmits 3D stuff

https://boards.fireden.net/ic/thread/2423510/#2425976 we did a poll a long time ago and voted no 3D. There were talks of a LAS3D once the main project finished but for now it's 2d only

Yeah, sorry about that. There was no coming back those first couple months but I could've been back here a month ago if I was a better person. I promise I wasn't reading everything and ignoring it, I shut myself off completely and... I don't know if that's worse. It wasn't until I got a comment on my blog telling me to kill myself (I thought it was a joke) which was followed up by another saying people were upset that I realized I had waited too long to come back.

I want you guys to know I didn't leave because of the LAS or the people in it. I ran away from everything in my life and would have left art behind too if it wasn't all I had left (it sounds fucking lame to say but it's true.) No pity party, I'm just saying that it wasn't because I hated you guys or something.

I'll be in the threads and working on the LAS for the foreseeable future

ps: thank you to the people who made those get well cards and especially to whoever compiled them and spammed me on every social media platform til I saw it

The current plan for the critique system is that you "earn" the ability to ask for a critique. You post for x days and then you can flag your submission saying "I want a critique for this."

Another reason why this feature was moved until after the stats were implemented is because the stats update comes with a user profile update. On it you'll be able to link to your blog and add a little bio. It's going to be suggested that you add your experience and your art goals.

I think and important part of giving a critique is knowing what the person wants to do. You can give general advice based on their submission but if you also know for example that they want to make those portrait bux then you can recommend books and tutorials, etc

I've been trying to come up with a system to moderate critiques and I think the best way to handle it is to let people flag whether or not a critique was constructive and sort based on that. I know same of you guys are itching for new tribunal cases to judge but I think adding critique reports would be too much. If it turns out most people are constructive then repeat offenders could wind up in the tribunal and the community can decide if they should have their critiquer's license revoked for a while

I was aiming for badges with placeholder images for tonight but I got a new doctor who thinks my existing injury was masking something new so it's been a busy couple weeks with appointments and tests. I'm still trying for tonight but I'd say this weekend for sure

Noob friendly as in explaining how the site works, error messages, a home page, etc
>>2585223
Based on the polls the community is in favor of critiques but it's not an overwhelming majority. I don't want the site to be a hugbox or a place to get told to go kill yourself so when it's added it needs to be done in a way that makes the feature useful. If it turns out to be cancerous then it'll be changed

I went through his past submissions to help a build a case to pardon him. I figured it was an honest mistake (and it may have been) but it turned up those 4 submissions I linked. I didn't even go through it with a fine tooth comb. There were some very similar submissions and I bet if you went through all 167 and cross referenced them you'd find more.

I didn't want to do it and I went in trying to prove his innocence but all I found was more evidence against him

It was mainly because the tribunal wasn't setup to handle a case like that. Half a dozen submissions spanning months that started 5 months ago. The tribunal is more for the day to day stuff

>> No.2585180 [View]

Hey sorry I thought I replied about the JP thing yesterday. I set the tribunal up so that you can't report submissions older than three days to help limit potential trolling. That doesn't mean if people manage to lay low for 72 hours they'll be in the clear.

I don't think I'd ever go back and fire up the tribunal for a possible low effort case that's months old but when the tribunal was implemented I said that anyone caught cheating would be punished, regardless of how long ago it happened.

I'm personally biased to go easier on people who've been submitting every day for a long time but cheating is a big one. He didn't post anything else for that day on his deviantart (which isn't damning since he only uploads there half the time) but a couple weeks later he posted

http://imgur.com/ixc1FEE

and half of those are from his previous day's submission

https://embed.gyazo.com/783c8eba83da213dffc3dcb09124b7a4.png

and we see them again a month later in

http://imgur.com/WJiT1Ct

and then a week after that we see them a third time

https://imgur.com/a/umHhb

I think the bear double post could easily have been a mistake but when you see it 4-5 times in his first 100 days it doesn't need to go to the tribunal. JP has been eliminated from the LAS
