So... I just logged on to las and saw that my streak was rest. I'm still around, and I've been posting every day, but I guess I didn't check to see if it actually properly went through. Dunno if my file size was too big, or the imgur link hadn't loaded yet or whatever, but there you go, but like every other time it was an accident

Las has been an absolutely huge part of helping me get to where I am today, and I've met some pretty cool people who I'm sure I'll be friends with for a long time. I'm going to keep drawing every day, but the only reason I was continuing to submit was because I liked my high streak number.

I'm not interested in starting back at one, but I'll keep on checking out people's pictures and chatting in the threads. Good luck lassies! Never give up!

Yeah, unfortunately I was distracted talking to a commissioner about what they wanted and missed the deadline. It sucks but it was my fault

I often think of you, when my nights are dark the thought that your shrine is out there brightens them.

>>2797714
look at the successful people around you and what they are doing, how they are becoming popular and learn from them. I've done some economics at university which helped give me a few ideas, but other than that it requires you to think about how to make yourself stand out.

Spend an hour a day brainstorming ideas of things you can do and write them down.

Kind of. I've been to a few furry meets and have a lot of friends who are super into being furry, and I really enjoy the furry art scene but not enough to go to a furry convention or wear a fursuit or something

I was hoping they would go through my art and look for some obvious errors I wasn't aware of and tell me so I could improve, but I guess they must be worse than me so they can't, poor guy.

I get that your joke is suggesting that I'm suicidal and hurt myself, but at least go look at my art and tell me about how much I can't draw faces and just skip them most of the time because I know they all look like absolute shit and deep down I know they always will, or how I usually fuck up my hip anatomy even though I've done so many, OR that I shouldn't think my animation is any good because I use after effects and that program does pretty much everything so a baby could animate as well as me.

I mean seriously, this is an art board. Hurt my feelings by hitting me where I'm weak rather than using something generic like "hur durr i bet you cut urself".

The problem with asking me this is that I will launch into an autistic plan about how I want to gain popularity and get money.

My current goal is to do high quality stuff (time wise, not rushing) for cheap with extremely limited slots. This helps to build followers, and will mean multiple people stay interested in me. My main goal right now is popularity building over anything else.

I have loads of discounts for stuff like being a patreon supporter, ($5 off a comm if you're doing $5+ a month), discounts for repeat customers (50% off your third comm), and also a discord where people can chat to get credits to pay for a commission (with patreon supporters having credits that are worth more)

Plus, giving out free raffle stuff each month to help get followers, I just started running an ad to get more followers, and in the future I plan to give out some cool unique and free ubf merch to long time patreon supporters, which I expect to be a big deal.

Right now, it's very expensive time wise. I get barely return. I worked on a $50 comm for like 50+ hours to make it perfect, and have a really nice animation. BUT, I'm investing time for a high quality portfolio and high returns later on

All this is leading towards my final goal. Super high popularity, and an understanding from my followers that I put a lot of effort into what I work on. In come auctioning slots of my time off. People who weren't able to get one of my usual cheap-ish commission slots that vanish quickly can still bid for my time. In the furry community, it's no surprise for these to go up to $250 or so for a popular artist, but I'm aiming for in like 10 years to be auctioning slots for 1k+ for working for a week on a picture then animating it, which is what I enjoy doing the most.

Yeah, some weird issue with picarto where it doesn't properly do the multi chat.

Thanks! I really try to think about what I'm scared of drawing, and then push myself to study it, it's working pretty well so far. Except for faces, forever my weakness.

Really would like to see some more progress pics from other people, coming up to a year so it's a good time to do it.

So, after seeing this I decided to make a progress compilation of pretty much everything. I wanted to focus on the volume of stuff I've done, since it's mostly just sketches until august or something. So, sorry for the absurdly huge file size in part 1, But there was a lot to squish in, and there wasn't any "finished" items I could pick out, it's also missing my animated stuff.

Part 2 has my recent stuff just a bit bigger, where I have been focusing on colours, stylisation, muscles, and also more realistic lighting (I'm about to read Gurney so that's gon b fun), and blending towards the end. I would love to have some critique on the stuff at the bottom, where I've kinda taken a break from commissions to focus on improving my rendering.
Personally, I think the thing I did yesterday, which was practice on lighting and subtle colouring without using any references is really freaking neat, and I'm going to finish off the figure today.

Sorry for the furry stuff, but I'm a degenerate and I can't help it.

When I joined up with las I got serious and started studying. Before that it was just absent doodles with month long breaks, and the earliest thing I can find of that is march 2015, so it's taken maybe 1 and a half years to get here?

I'm not posting it for porn's sake, I'm posting it since I'm using it as an example of how my work is currently progressing.

I-I hope that gives it a pass...

You mean decide on what to value yourself as? You have to have a careful look at what prices people who are in a similar skill range charge, and that's pretty much up to you. Then, take into account stuff like how long you take to do a piece, your popularity and demand, and if you want to have temporary lower prices to increase the amount of people who can actually afford you.

Although when starting out, you have to whore yourself out for commissions, offer specials, discounts, requests, freaking anything to get exposure, so that hopefully you'll get a popular or well known person to get something for free, link to you, and then hopefully someone with money comes along and offers to commission you.

You can't wait for people to accidentally find you through your occasional posts, you have to market yourself. The great thing about the furry community, is that there are places where you can buy an advert banner slot for about $25 a month, which gets about 3000 page views over a month if it's an averagely attractive banner. commissioners almost always post art you do for them, and it will more or less always be with a link back to you. Do something attractive, and when someone favorites your post, it shows that picture on their profile which links back to you. There are stupid amounts of forums around furry stuff, and if you do one raffle there, you can get a load of attention and someone might buy something. PLUS, you also have lots of sites that repost your art (like e621, reddit, etc), which have moderators that ensure pieces have the correct artists tagged with a link back to them. be active in the community you want to sell to.

On FA, when you post something it will always go to the front page for a bit so you always have a chance to catch the eye of someone, so it's great for putting up YCH adverts or pieces with your commission info or details on a special.

I added a post I saw somewhere ages ago, I've always kept it's advice in mind.

I don't only do furshit, but I do it because I enjoy it and it's without a doubt the biggest market for an artist with no real experience or stand out ability.

>>2671868
Wouldn't be surprised if it was me. I've commissioned a few lassies now, and offered to commission a lot more too, although a lot seem to drop off the radar.
Seriously though, if you do need commissions, mention it to me in a stream or discord, and if you've got decent prices I'll be up for it.

I agree with these. I feel I don't really deserve a score higher than 3 and that's pushing it. I don't explore colour as much as I should and a lot of my stuff still feels static, but I'm feeling a bit more flow in some of it. I'm pushing myself to focus on lineweight and solve my constant face issues, once I've gotten better in those areas I might be a 3 or 3.5

In the crit I got a few days ago, the anon mentioned that my muscle game was weak so I'm really pushing myself to focus on that for a while, as well as faces. I've been feeling the gainz, now I just have to not lose them
