I was notified of this by a moderator.
Because of the site outage, please make a submission with this doodle and link it to me in an email for reinstatement.

i haven't had the chance to qa this very aggressively since i needed to get this out quick
please let me know via email or discord if something's wrong (timer saying you've already submitted when you haven't, and vice versa, showing wrong dates, etc)

the none post frequency ones are currently placeholders, i have an improvement in mind but not enough time tonight to work on them

i normally don't browse/post in threads anymore but this challenge has been particularly popular and i already have a lot of requests on this

when the worldbuilding challenge was made, the dates were specified incorrectly, so the creator deleted the challenge and remade it
a notification is not generated when a challenge is edited/deleted, so a lot of people assumed they just got the same "worldbuilding challenge created" notification twice because of a bug
please email me or contact me on discord asap if you want to join the challenge before the first deadline and i'll add you manually

hey todd howard here

i don't browse the thread much anymore but i figure i should probably say this
a lot has changed over the previous month in my personal life and while half of my slow progress has been the result of those changes, the other half is met by some combination of fatigue, emotional issues and honestly just plain old laziness, so really, there's no excuses there
long story short, i should be able to kick it up a gear soon
i have also sent emails to everyone i todd howard'd in their request for sign ups
jokes aside, the goal in the immediate future is to go from todd howard to sean murray. you know, absolute radio silence (well maybe not absolute radio silence) that leads to good shit+ but extremely delayed, right? hopefully in the future you will enjoy the registration reopen and No Man's Dad (and not DAD 76) soon after

keep it real, chomsky honk

I don't want to establish a leaderboard for that because the field is for your own use: otherwise I, or moderators, would have to curate how long people have spent on submissions beyond "did they spend at least 30 minutes".

>>4571684
People have argued the fact that others are catching up or you fall behind are incentive enough to not do so, and this might even strengthen peoples' resolve to try to catch up to them when they start slacking.

Something that's been brought up is just doing away with the penalty entirely.
This almost has unanimous support, as people see the lower score accumulation as penalty in it of itself, and was wondering how people felt here about it.

There are some counter-arguments. Streak is just an arbitrary number on an obscure website goes that encourages you to draw. Some people even find it compelling for the same reason others find it agonizing: it basically forces you to keep working, and eventually build a habit. Moreover, the proposed solution can be unfair to people who have already dropped high streaks if implemented. The seasonal challenges were also designed to lower importance of the DAD streak, emphasizing habitual commitments manageable to you over habitual posting.
It's important to consider what DAD is intended to do, and that's not just to keep people drawing, but also getting the most out of it. DAD may be inspired by its predecessors, but we've changed a lot; we are not beholden to the dogma of the original LAS (which was literally draw every day or be eliminated). It's why I've hesitated so in implementing topic challenges, which in proof of implementation turned out to be a really awful beginner's trap and a painful drag for those trapped in it. If there is a smart way to keep the competitive spirit of trying to numerically demonstrate your commitment to learning art alongside others with the same ambition, without ultimately damaging the well-being of its participants, being unfair to previous participants or stunting the users' growth and development as artists, this solution is what I personally feel DAD should embrace.
Lastly, we should ask how important this is relative to the now-severely-delayed DAD 2.0. Depending on how difficult the solution, I may have to defer it to later. However, if the fix is relatively simple, and there is significant support behind the proposed changes, I can prioritize it over the other features (for reference once-a-month frequency changes should not constitute more than a few dev hours).
What do you think? What solution works best, or are things fine as is? If you think things need fixing, how pressing do you actually think they are?

Recently, people have brought up the notion that the streak changes should be a little less "all-or-nothing". Especially in cases when people have accrued an extremely significant streak, like 100+, there is a strong, and sometime overwhelming sense of loss aversion that leads to the need to preserve it, which can lead to some ultimately unproductive mentalities: i.e., not taking breaks when you need to, drawing because compelled and not because you want to or drawing 30 minutes of useless stuff for the sake of maintaining a number. For some people, especially folks on page one, this can be mentally excruciating.
The possibility that was raised that you could change your streak downward in frequency without penalty a maximum of once per month, significantly more permissive than the current halving functionality that currently exists. I sort of feel like this is a touch too permissive (it costs nothing to change back up, and how often would one even need to lower their streak in the first place)? This would allow people to get a breather of sorts and jump back in. I personally have played with the idea of "penalized vacations", where you can take a small break at a flat cost of some of your streak (-14 to take a week off, etc). I've also thought of notion of checkpoints (elimination returns you to your latest checkpoint), or "partial eliminations", you lose somewhere between 25-50% of your streak and when you return, you would start off wherever that was.

Absolutely not.
Cub, shota and loli are strictly off limits.
The only exception to this is if you pull a j and do some extensive self-censoring of your submission.

These are really fucking cool. I might even integrate these into the site as a fun little profile customization feature when I get back on the dev horse after this challenge.

You can add submissions together as a compilation. I'm unhappy with how the anti-spam functionality works in relation to the desires of completion-oriented newcomers. Once I get the registrations / mod applications up and running again, the limit should be lifted (or at least set reasonably high).
