Nice, you gave her a friendlier smirk. Cute and well done.

I do have the TV series on DVD but have yet to sit down and watch them properly to see if it holds up. Last 2 eps (I think they didn't show on TV) are nicely animated, the last ep having a nice Kei moment.

Pinnacle for the series IMO was the Dirty Pair Movie: Project Eden, great animation, soundtrack, and the DP never looked better. I kind of trailed off during the OAV series and Flight 005 Conspiracy. I never watched Dirty Pair Flash.

The girls' personality dynamics are fairly close to Panty and Stocking (to compare to more recent anime), except the Dirty Pair are of course, not as coarse or slutty (excluding doujinshi). Enjoy!

I'm not really that good at 3D things like sculpture or papercraft (cool plans of the Discovery from 2001). Although back in college for my 2nd 3D Design course I did make Kei's gun out of paper boxes just for the hell of it. TA liked that I had initiative, he showed it to the Dean and all he said was, "handle is a a little boxy." ;_;

Not really. it's just to inform you that you are wasting your time freaking out about me using emoticons. ;)

Whoops, didn't talk about if it's good for drawing... sorry.

The resolution for it (and my Samsung 500T) is only 1360x768. IMO a little too small for really serious drawing. Tool windows for PS and MS take up a little too much room. If looking for a tablet, full HD (1920x1080) or higher would be better.

My S7S and 500T though make it really convenient to draw pretty much anywhere. True, you can do the same with a sketchbook and pencil, but I got tired of having eraser shavings in my bed or on my couch. The S7S is lag free with the SB i5 CPU, while the 500T with the CloverTrail Atom CPU is just barely fast enough for HR sketching in Manga Studio, some intermittent lag, and you can't scribble in dark areas as fast as you would on the S7S or a Desktop PC and Tablet. But as I said again, new products coming out all the time, need to find the holy grail of raw power and battery life.

It's peppy, but old tech (SandyBridge). New Wacom driver finally has Photoshop 7 working with Windows 8. Battery life is that of a laptop, so only get 2-3 hours out of it. Not good for a full day use or at a convention. I'm waiting to see the reviews on the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga, or wait to see what BayTrail tablets come out next year. Hopefully 9+ hours with enough horsepower to run PS and MS fluidly will become the norm for tablets.

I'm not the poster of >>1557330, but thanks. As for emoticons, I do like to use them a lot and I'm old enough not to care what people think. IMO, People who get upset at emoticons have the same mental dysfunction as the grammar police. So, lighten up, peeps, it's the internet! ;D

I started out with nylon brushes long ago, never bought a sable. Even back then people were complaining that sable quality was going down so I'm not sure what it's at now. Always test the brushes and make sure they come a nice point.

For traditional work I'm mainly brush, using a $8 brush with an ink cartridge for the handle. I buy mine locally, but if you look at jetpens.com you can find a variety of brush pens. I don't use the ink, using Dr. Martin's Bombay Black for now. I use the tech pen for techie stuff, and the g-pen for speedlines and some other more organic techie stuff.

Control with a brush can be a pain in the butt, one way to get better control when making a stroke is to place your middle finger (the one holding the pen) down on the paper and make your line then. The finger acts as a kind of pressure limiter, so you don't get all bloopy with the line and thus giving you more control.

If the OP is yours, fairly good for the most part, you're keeping the contour lines a bit thicker and stronger than the interior linework. Some places where you outlined and hatched don't really work (ie pinky, thumb), would have been better to just go all black and possibly go back in with white out to knock out some forms. Other hatching is a little lifeless for my tastes. But keep it up.

Rough layout for a Baroness sketch. I'll probably do a lite, tighter version, print a blueline, and then go to town. I've found if I flesh it out too much in the computer, finishing it off traditionally is a chore. :/

It still looks anime-ish (or manga-ish) to me. Perhaps the eyes. "More naturalistic style" is probably closer to what you're doing (at least with the noses.)

Slow down, be more deliberate with your linework, think about what you're actually drawing. Granted, your pic may lose some energy or spark, but hopefully with a better understand of the forms and experience, you'll get it back. "Sloppy" doesn't necessarily have to mean "Haphazard."

Nice, I don't mind the colors, they work fine for the most part. Don't be afraid of putting things in complete shadow like the artist you're emulating does. For example, the shadows on her shoulders and sleeve can go more solid instead of breaking them up in an attempt to differentiate the shirt from the sweater. If you do want to break it up, it'll look better not to have both ends open for color, ie where the sweater meets the collar and the other end where it meets the sleeve. (IMO, it probably you could fill in both ends).

Heh, had to look it up. I might be able to get into that (think I've drawn a pic or two like it already.) Sometimes the faces are kinda bizarre, but I guess that's the point.

Hmm wonder if it fixes the noticeable and annoying lag I have with PS7 and my slates. For some reason Manga Studio 4 and 5 don't have that problem.
