The dad of the day is… nobody! I’ve decided to quit early. There are many reasons but basically:
I don’t think “dad of the day” was that useful. Featured dads could easily get a decent critique/help with their art when they wanted and on things they’re most concerned about simply by asking in dadcord. Giving critiques regardless if people want them or not is silly.
I don’t think “dad of the day” have improved those threads. The idea was to direct discussion towards art, but it very rarely happened, especially after novelty of daily dads wear off. Just look at the dads of the day from this very thread.
I didn’t think featuring everyone as a “dad of the day” would take this long. New accounts are made on a daily basis and there’s still plenty of dads that weren’t featured. It’s a more serious commitment than I thought it was.
And most importantly I don’t think I want to keep doing this. I’m trying to improve myself, to build more healthy habits. That includes quitting 4chan. I’m honestly ashamed of how much time I’ve wasted on people who were more interesting in ridiculing each other than anything else. I still want to be a part of DAD, but I don’t want to be a part of 4chan... and “dad of the day” is the main reason why I didn’t stop browsing 4chan yet. Maybe I'll show up every now and then when I'll have some finished art that needs a crit, but I definitely don't want to start my days with checking 4chan any more.

After featuring 147 dads, I’m quitting. You’ll have to find someone else to feature new dads if you want this thing to keep going.

Actually that's incorrect.
1. Number of dads is increasing. In September we had 6 pages of users; now we have 8. I know that, because I regularly check to add new dads to my list.
2. Dads die all the time. So far I've featured 140 dads and I wouldn't be surprised if 30-40% of them were already completely dead (though I didn't actually count). Userbase changed quite a bit since dad started.
