I don't have any social media, but I want to start posting my art somewhere. I've been considering Instagram, TikTok and Pixiv, but I'm unsure where to start.

Also, if I post my art, how do I build a following?

why do you want a following?
regardless, the answer is instagram. you need to find people who make art like yours and both use the hashtags they use and interact with them.

Animator or art vids = youtube/tiktok/instagram
if coom = twitter
not animator or art vids = twitter/pixiv
don't draw anime or mainly anime? = twitter

Now the general advice, post at least 2-3 times a week(animator 1-4 times a month). Skill level doesn't really matter, as long you post consistently you'll build a following. Posting inconsistently can push you down the algorithm or mess with your interaction. Social media majorly favors fan art, BUT if you can make animations or have your own game you'll yield in a higher reward.

hashtags don't work on instagram anymore, they removed the most recent tab on hashtags, so near impossible to build a following there from the grounds up. Also they favor videos a lot more than photos, so just posting art won't do.

timelapses could work if you use a trendy song/music in it or do some sort of spin on it, get creative with him as well. example:

But if your post are vids ,trending audio, and certain trends that gets you 30k followers in less than a week or 2. Even begging for followers works and garner you thousands of followers just because you made a video on it https://www.instagram.com/kinnnn_30/
