Oh, I didn't know it was actually you. I thought it was a crab attempt.

Yeah, it looks really good. Compared to the rest of the rendering, the sword didn't look like it had the right texture. I would maybe even drape the cloth a bit straighter and simplify some folds. I know it's wet, but it might be sticking too much to her body.

Rendering and color is almost the same thing. If you wanna separate the two, work in black and white and study how light affects objects of different colors and textures.

Color will depend entirely on your light source. Is it a warm candle? Cool moonlight? Overcast day? There are so many nuances when painting skin. For now just focus on getting the values correct, and study the different color shifts on the skin.

Try using a brush with higher opacity...I'd even try 100%. It will help with accuracy. Instead of building and building values, you can quickly pick a value and put it down.

I played with the values and added some more color. Also tried coloring the armor...I'm not the best at reflective chrome stuff...

I would work on making your poses more clear. The one on the left is kind of all over the place in terms of gesture. The one on the right does not have a clear silhouette and it's not clear what he's doing. I actually had to open it up to see what was going in with his hands.

The guy's on the left silhouette has a giant dong.

Try doing a bunch of small rough silhouette poses and try to get them make it clear what's going on just from the outline. And try not cutting off the feet. Basically, plan the figure out with a rough sketch first.

I think its cool. The shading looks a bit flat. Almost looks like you're lighting it from our view but putting the highlight on the left. The mid tones are taking over too much of the shape.
The colors are okay, but the I would mute the bg way more, right now it's clashing with the figure and making parts hard to see.. weird, cause your values are good if you switch it to grayscale.

Alright, I also made this lion quick version of my catgirl OC to test my new XP Pen 15.6. The shoulders are stiff as hell, but the overall pose feels weird too. The main issue with the arms as the other posters said is that they are tiny (which is very noticeable on the left one), this was a mistake on my part and Im glad so many people have pointed it out as I will be more aware of those issues in the future and lets me know which things I should work on. I think you're trying to tackle too many things with too little experience. I would break things down and work on them separately.

Try working and figure drawing, anatomy, gesture etc... Then work on backgrounds and color, perspective, values, composition. It will all come with time.

Try planning out your scenes with quick, small thumbnail sketches. They don't have to be super detailed or polished, just get general placement, perspective, mood, etc.. down.

Ah fuck it I need feedback, this is the last thing I put significant time and effort into. My values are muddled, the form and gesture boring and I dont get on with the 'clean line then flat colour' method too well, but making it painterly and trying to cut the shapes and silhouette ends up even more muddled and vague. I like the thumbnail sketches and value roughs you did for your redlines, do you have any tips for efficient workflow?

It's not bad, I would just work on nailing down your anatomy here and there. Specifically when you're foreshortening figures. The top two: the one on left, I think the head is facing us too straight on, I would tilt it down a bit. The one on the right the torso is mangled.
Also, try not to use pure white and black on skin when rendering. Especially dark skin...check out some refs. Hope that helps.

Not bad, but I think you're losing definition in your anatomy... and those claw hands aren't doing you a favor. Study up your own hands a bit and learn the proportions.

Are you working on one layer? Why don't you like cleaning up lines and painting on top on a separate layer?

My workflow is pretty bad. I do a bunch of small value thumbnails, then choose 3, then clean them up a bit, then choose the best one. I keep that one on the side while I do my final size.

Cool concept, I think it could use some breathing room.
Here's what I came up with. Story-wise, it would be cool to have the egg thing as the main focal point, then the guy in the foreground . This composition might also help with directing our eye a bit. I'm not that good with female bodies but your drawing looks like a trace of a real person because the proportions don't look anime. Generally the ribcage/torso in anime is drawn smaller.
